WIFI dead, went ethernet.....FF still dead.....
Someone, somehow, got into our wifi setup here......we battled it for some 4 hours yesterday, thought we finally had it beat, but on MY machine Win10 Dell, the FFox browser will NOT connect, and this AM I went off the air again....so fished out an old ethernet cable from daze gawn buy......and so on the air again with ethernet now......
but the issue is, I suspect my wife will be down on her computer in the back room.....she not here now...... but the mystery on MY machine is no WIFI, had to use EDGE to connect at all, FFox is not connecting....the menu appears with all the sites just fine, but no matter what I punch...no connect, perpetual search.....even on ethernet just now.....I do not like Edge much.....which is what I using now...anyone have any ideas as to why Edge will connect but FFox will not, not even with ethernet?? :issues::sadangel::shots: |

OP should go back to stone tablets and abacuses.

Call The Geek. :yesnod:

I don't have anymore boots to give it, except the one to the trash.....
WTF?? Edge eventually came up again, ethernet, and so the damn machine was black screen with JUST the lone mouse pointer on the screen..... tried d/l install FFox again, no go, still perpetual search and no connect..... I scarred all to hell about wife's machine in back room.....:issues: |
|
I went to ethernet, and so this is one of the faster loading sites, and CF does ok, but not straight to the poly ticks tab.....the one site that will NOT load is fakebook.....makes me wonder....someone on there somehow screwed up FFox even on reload, and it will not search/connect now....tried reloads of FFox and no go......stuck here on MSEdge....much slower ......
well after some 5 minits, I see the FB tab shows no more revolving circle, and the URL showing..... going to click over......bland screen, so went to refresh..... I think some geek at FBook got mad at me and totally screwed my machine..... :issues::issues: |

the wild assumptions and crazy conclusions in this thread are hysterical.
run ccleaner on your machine. run malwarebytes on your machine. report back. |
Not knowing your laptop, most have a WIFI switch that you can turn on and off. It's easy to have it turned off if your pet cat walks across the keyboard or you or your wife hits the key. Worth checking.
You can also run the network troubleshooter. Simply right-click on the connection icon and select "trouble shoot problems". |

I don't think that old HD was salvagable, how in hell they screw up wifi, leading into the hard wired......and disable one browser and not the other, then the other failed to work even on ethernet on about 1/2 the tabs/sites I frequent?? :issues: |
I doubt that your issue was your hard drive. You’ll want to clear your browser caches, as well as run Malwarebytes as mentioned above.
