More engine problems, f*ck this...(video)
I was warming up the truck for a quick 3 mile run down to the river...decided to floorboard it once in park to clear it out after the extended idle....and it felt like it jerked, so I revved it again..and saw it went to about 2500 and stumbled..so I held it down, matted....acts like a damned rev limiter...
1995 K3500 Silverado, 454 TBI, all new sensors, FPR rebuilt, all new gaskets on top end, all new exhaust (catless y pipe into flow 40), fuel pump is new, all new ignition, timed to 4* adv... http://s97.photobucket.com/user/RED-85-Z51/media/CAM00245_zpsc4b2febc.mp4.html |
SOmetimes after i lift off after it does this, it dies..other times it recovers and idles...
|
Audio was Utah quality on that one.
Sounds like misfiring. What's it sound/feel like? Scott |
|
yeah SMS quality vids are sub-utah quality...
I cant get my comp to connect to the phone, so I have to email videos to myself and do it that way...a 20 second video would take a week ot send..haha It feels like valve float...like it hits s certain speed and becomes bound by how much air it can move, however 2-3 days ago I was making pulls to 4500 without any problems at all. But at the same time it feels like a rev limiter, like its on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off but without the tach needle reacting like a rev limiter... I also had a little smoke out the pipes when it did this...couldnt tell the color before it cleared. |
Bolting on a Holley 750 Dual feed, and stand alone trans computer is looking more and more attractive all the time...
|
just ran it some more...it seems to only do it at or about WOT...if I dont go down that far, it revs okay.
Ive got no SES lights illuminated...but...Im thinking maybe TPS..? |

I priced out a new 2500 4X4..reg cab, long be,d Diesel...only 49,990....

Damn hard to tell. Looks like you recently replaced most of my first guesses.
Even with the smoke, I would lean toward an electric issue vs fuel delivery. Only other thought is map sensor although you said all sensors were replaced. With that mis-fire type of behavior, it is often something in the distributor/coil or as simple as fouled plugs. Will be interesting to see what you find. I never cared for throttle body carbs. Give me a straight venturi style carb or injected. There's a reason that sheit didn't last but for a couple years. You sure the fuel pressure regulator was rebuilt properly? Scott |

FPR is dead nuts simple. 4 screws and a diaphragm....
I swapped the MAP from my 95 K1500 oer to it and it did the same thing. if i go out and drive it...If i go down about 3/4...it pulls fine..if I go beyond that..it kicks and bucks nasty. If it was a FPR or fuel supply problem, it would not likely do it in park..mainly under a load when fuel supply is greater... All the iginition is new..plugs, wires, coil, module, cap, rotor button, etc... Ive got a new IAC valve, and CTS coming for it...ill go ahead and order a TPS now...its only money right? |
Jsut swapped in the stock ECM and EPROM...no change.

Valve spring
|
Well, it revs up to the redline if I dont floor it. I had 2 broken springs on a 350 one time and if I got over 2000 at all it spit back out the carb bad.

$50k for a truck? :willy: What's wrong with people today? My first house cost less than that. :funny: |
A 2014 Silverado 1/2 ton, Reg cab, short bed, Z71, base cloth interior, 5.3V8, base 17" wheels, base tires, no towing group, is right at 38K. long bed, ex cab, 18's,....all add $$.
A 2014 2500 Duramax, Z71, 4X4, base wheels, tires, towing group w/o brake controller, chrome package, reg cab long bed, base cloth interior...was a few dollars shy of 50K. About 54K if you add on longer wheelbase stuff, leather, etc... A 3500?,,, i didnt look but based on what i saw...load out a Dually, Diesel...around 60,000... My diesel has 125K miles on it 4X4, will pull anything that the hitch is rated for...gets a hair over 18mpg, dead nuts reliable..looks great, cold air...hot heat, I have under 4000 invested in it. My K1500 Z71, loks okay (needs paint), runs like a boss...comfortable, cold air, hot heat, good tunes, can tow 3500-4000lbs, 33" tires, gets about 17mpg, its no slouch unloaded though. Gets looks because they are rare to find CLEAN...and people liked em...its 20 years old this year after all. I have about 4100 in it, and its never left me stranded or in trouble, and ive put about 10K miles on it, almost always pulling a trailer...or something... If I can get this 1 ton SRW to work right, it will be a great workhorse...Love them big blocks. |
