Air Compressor ?
I've often wondered what size air compressors is needed to paint a car, I have 3-4 paint guns that I have aquired over the years.

I'm no expert but from my experience with air tools of any kind a 6 horse, 60 gallon unit would be the minimum.

I've painted about 20 cars over the years. Most with a 5hp, 20 gallon, single stage. I never had any problems. But if you are buying a new one. Look for a 2-stage, large tank, compressor. The smaller the tank. The more the compressor kicks off/on. It can cause moisture buildup in the lines all the way to the gun.
Painting isn't as hard as people make it out to be. Practice on one body panel before attempting the entire car. Make sure your paint guns are clean, lubricated, and work. If you can get the paint and clear coat down well enough. Color sanding will make it look like a mirror finish, regardless of equipment. |
I also have a 5 hp 20 gallon,it works for any reason I can come up with.
