Car Fax question

I am looking at a 2017 Subaru Forester for my daughter and the car fax has listed a rear damage report. It doesn't say accident though. What could this be? Any car fax experts here please chime in. The car in question is a certified used and has 40K on it.

The car in question:

They don't have the car fax online, but sent it to me in a text. I don't know how to post it here from a text though :confused5:

Edit: the car fax is now online!

As someone who deals with these every day, I can tell you this. Carfax sucks, and I don't trust a damn thing on them.

But, does the "certified used car" part make a difference? At the very least, it gives you an extended drive train warranty, so that helps.

Truth, they are more of a headache then they are worth.
As for the car itself the only real way you are going to find out is putting it on a lift and inspecting it,looking for damage on your own and to what extent.
Cert cars are suppose to be held to a higher level, brakes, tires can't be below a certain limit. On Toyota's new blades filters radio software up to date and very clean inside and out.

Are you familiar with that dealership, Michael? Do you think they will let me take it home and put it on a lift?

I don't know anyone that works there, haven't worked in the Seacoast area in over ten years.
I do have a few days off after tomorrow.

A year older, but low miles and no damage report! I'll let you know how this one goes :seasix:

Small story- sold a 2010 GrandSport Corvette that I had spun into a gravel trap. Fixed all the minor details and had a quality paint shop do the final work. No carfax report.

Carfax is to make the sheeple feel good. You need to do your own due diligence before you buy. Never trust an online service that depends on insurance.

I once looked at a Cadillac my then bosses father was in love with. Fresh paint, clean as a pin; I looked underneath and found it had been wrapped around a pole with damage extending all the way from the new rocker panel to the transmission tunnel with the floors still showing wrinkles and scorch marks from being heated with a rosebud. I insisted he not even drive it back to the dealer; they came and returned his car to him.

Got hit while at a stop light on christmas eve 2015;

Doesn't look too bad, but sub-frame was bent, class III receiver bent down,
over $4k in damage. Took 1 month in the shop to get repaired!
Went thru my insurance initially to get damage repaired.
Other insurance company eventually paid full cost.

Traded the Escape in earlier this year, and the dealer called about 3 weeks later
inquiring about the engine replacement I had done in 2017.
Never any questions about the damage.
So, I looked at the car fax report.
Only mentions in the report were the recalls and warranty repairs I had done at Ford dealers over my 6 years of ownership. Nothing about the "accident".
Carfax is not the most reliable medium.

Well, my daughter bought this one. Really nice condition, and I went over it with a fine tooth comb. They were watching me climb all over it in the lot before we took it for a ride :D Zero evidence of any damage other than a ding or two. Got a tad more for the trade than I was expecting! Got a better rate there than going through my credit union too. Drives like brand new. I think we did OK, and more important, she is very happy :yesnod: Thanks for the assistance, guys :cert:

Sorry for the shitty pic, took it through the window!
