Professor Fired for Blaming Harvey on Texas Voting GOP

AMPA, Fla. — The University of Tampa has fired a visiting assistant professor who suggested in a tweet that Hurricane Harvey's destruction is "instant karma" for Texas because it voted Republican.

Sociology professor Kenneth L. Storey posted the tweet and two responses on Sunday before removing the entire thread and his profile photo.

University spokesman Eric Cardenas said in a statement Tuesday that Storey was fired after the school weathered an outpouring of online outrage over the comments.

The Tampa Bay Times reported Storey issued an apology on Monday, writing that he "never meant to wish ill will upon any group."

In a Facebook post on Monday evening, the university said it "stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey."

Officials said another sociology professor will take over Storey's classes.

Used to be a moron saying that would only be known in a small circle. With the internet, the moron can get a national and international audience quickly. Mo-ron.

I would bet that the professor that replaced him has the same sentiments, just smart enough to not tweet them. Somewhere along the way sociology evolved from an observational study to extremest activism.

Been that way since my grade screwal daze...make that 60 years now.....

Not a very bright professor. If he was he would have realized that much of the area hardest hit by hurricane Harvey likely voted for Democrats.

So if God was really angry at people who vote Republican, He would have brought disaster to the panhandle, it appears.

I knew Houston was pretty blue.

Now, Prof. TWEET can blame GOP voters for his being terminated. Libs seem to have a hard time understanding THEY are their own worst enemy.
