Anybody still here? I had a physical two and a half weeks ago. I knew I was overweight, but had maintained the same weight for quite some time, so I really wasn't too inspired to lose, even though I am a fatty. I'm 5'8", was 251lbs...then the dr's office called with some abnormal liver results. Doc says probably fatty liver, probably just keep an eye on it, but it scared me slap to death over the weekend that I couldn't talk with him. Since I've never drank alcoholic beverages, it was obviously my diet.
I immediately cold-turkey'ed sodas, including my beloved morning Dr Pepper every day, quit burger joints, turned up the water intake, nixed the red meat, and became a salad lover. Averaging between 1,000 and 1400 calories a day so far, mostly on the lower end of that. Haven't upped the exercise a lot because I struggle to find time to.
This morning, scale read 236. (It's an old scale, not sure how accurate, but it was the same scale the 251 reading came from).
Someone needs to get back in here and keep me encouraged. Goal is 200 lbs, preferably by the end of the year...then reassess.

I'd say my biggest changes came with diet. It's not hard once you get into routine to say no to the bad stuff. I think people make the mistake while they are trying to lose by having "cheat" days or meals. F that...stick to your guns till you drop to a weight you want. Then add in a day or two of unclean eating. I've been holding at a solid 205, 14% body fat for the past 120 days. I eat clean during the week (low sodium, no processed foods, no bread/pasta, sweets, etc)... On weekend, if I want to go out and eat at Red Robin and have a burger and a beer...cool. But I'm right back on point come Monday.

As I noted above somewhere, changing what you eat and getting in some walking worked for me. 300+ down to 225+/-2 and holding for over 2 years. I'm 6-5. :smash:

Eating right is cheaper long term than spending 5 days in the ICU.

When I went back to the doctor for the follow up- he told me his scale had read 269 the previous visit. Quite a bit more than the 251 I thought I weighed. I went out and bought new scales that day that agreed with his scales at that time, with a new reading of 247. As of now, I'm hanging around 224 to 225. Still keeping it around 1100 to 1500 calories, and I've quit using elevators and am climbing stairs instead, as well as upping the activity as I have time. Days off I'm constantly moving. Toning up a bit, dropped 3 pant sizes....now it's just the daily slog to get rid of another pound....When I get irritated about the pace, I remind myself that just 3 months ago I weighed over 40 lbs more.

Just finished up a 90 day challenge the trainer I am working with gave me.

Age: 43

Starting weight (April 1st): 251
Ending weight (July 1st): 200

Body fat (April 1st): 28.8%
Body fat (July 1st): 16.2%

Inches lost in waist: 8"

Not too shabby. Diet was a key factor in my quick losses. Gone were anything processed, anything with salt, all refined sugar, bread and pasta. Meals were split every 3-4 hours and consisted of organic fruits, veggies, lean meats. 8-10 hours of sleep per night. Workouts were 1hr per day, 6 days a week along with 2-3 times a week of running (15-20 mins sprint intervals). No cheat meal days.

I've been working out for years but ate like crap. With this trainer I told him I wanted to try and get abs. I won't lie...it was not an easy 90 days...but every week I got a little stronger, and every week I dropped more weight. Every time there was something I shouldn't be eating around I just told myself I can do anything for 90 days...and drove on. About week 3 eating healthy became a habit and I really didn't miss the things I use to eat.

Just noticed the before and after pictures, HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing transformation
