Blackout Taillights

I have a Torch Red coupe that I am thinking of doing the taillight black out kit. My real concern is that the lights will not be seen in daylight hours. Anybody running a set and how are they?

I had a set of stock tails blacked out and I almost got rear ended twice in the same day so I took them out. I then got a set of black cherry halo led's and although not quite as dark as the first set they are still plenty dark but very visible in bright sunlight. I've never tried the blackout covers so no opinion on those.

i removed them and tinted the lights directly and still have had no problems. i love how it looks

I have a lense cover set I'm giving away if anyone wants them. I put them on the vert and turned on the lights and turn signals. Once I looked at it, I choose to remove them as I just wasn't comfortable with the blacked out rear set up. I fear getting hit and somebody claiming it was my fault because the lenses were darkened. Not likily to be a real issue but I am not one to roll the dice and have some moron hit me and take me to court.

So I have a set if you want them. They fit nice and look great but just not for me... JMO

My 03 had very heavily tinted covers when I bought it.

I swapped them out for a smoke gray soon after I bought and the visibility of the lights in the day time is a lot better with the lighter tint.

I bought a set of covers and they turned out to be too dark so I bought some VHT Nite Shades and applied two coats and then added LED bulbs and they look great.

JW did mine in a fairly light tint. I just wanted to get rid of the hard/bright red. I had darker tint on the car and got stopped 3 times for it.

JW is a cool guy, bought some wheels from him last year, easy to deal with and he cares.

So did you get your LED's from JW and add the tint covers or spray tint them?

I got it from JW with the stage 2 tint option. I would recommend the stage 1 or 1.5 if he still offers it. PM him, he's a great vendor!!
