AOL infection......
 

I have my current oldest email addy with att.net, had to modify it twice over the last ~20 years or so, to avoid spam, etc.....so I noticed this AM about an email I got and went to forward to friends....and noted one of my friends was with AOL, and somehow about a dozen other AOL accounts/addy's were on my email list, not if I looked at the usual spot as if I was originating an email, but appeared when I hit the forward link

I had to go hit some obscure button/link on the handler to pull up that fake email list with all the strangers on it, and dump ALL the AOL addresses.....

WTF?? back in the 90's I was with AOL for a short time.....

back in '70's through early 90's there was a TV shop/chain operation called Errol's TV & Appl. in the Wash DC region.....and when the .net went public, he opened up an ISP and took on clients at retail locations......and it was one of his operatives that asked he what 'handle' I wanted to use.....so I thought of another friend with the handle MrGTO .....and so I chose mrvette.....

witch I carried with me for all the ISP's, but lately had to add year of car to it as plain MRVETTE was taken......

but what is with this AOL infection of email addy's????

What is AOL...?

One of the very first nationwide ISP's......predecessor to ATT/Commcrap/etc.....stood for America On Line......I remember the acoustic modem and listening to the dialup interchange......

shhhhhhhh, chhhhhhhh, shhhhhhh, bing bong, bing bong, then a snicker that sounded like my then 4 y/o daughter.......kid's laughter......

AOL was the shit compared to Compuserve... 2.4 baud if you were lucky and had a clean line. You'd have to wait until late night to connect most of the time to one of the 2 or 3(if you were lucky) numbers available. Forget to disable call waiting once...

I really miss the old AOL chat rooms.

I ditched my previous lawyer last year. A young guy who had all the gadgets and wizardry, but the wife and I wanted new wills drawn up, and the guy couldn't get it done, so he got kicked to the curb.

Offer was submitted on my 3 family, so I needed another Real Estate/Family lawyer, called an old fraternity buddy who gave me a name. She is a woman who has been practicing for 38 years, I figure she knows the job by now. :shrug:

We'll see how she does on this deal. If well, I'll see if she can find her way to a couple of pretty simple wills. I'm not a baller, so I don't need some high-powered attorney.

My accountant uses AOL still:leaving:
