I would have loved to see those cretins working on the old style clincher ring tires that were so popular on the 3/4 T and larger trucks of a couple of decades ago. No safety cage needed!:D

they really dont spring that hard when you release the retainer. A few inches. simple to tie them down and leave a bit of slack for them to unspring but not fly.

Back in the day I had a split rim pop loose as I was trying to lock it and broke my wrist. My tire busting days ended there!

My after school job ('76 & '77 ) was working at the tire shop for what is now a major local car dealer.

On the truck side, right next to the cage, there was a news article taped to the wall where someone was killed inflating a truck tire where the split ring "took him out". :sadangel:
