Seriously considering this BMW

Thoughts and opinions? Do you trust the dealer? Description? Photos? Carfax?

I think you are out of your everlovin mind. I mean, here is a man who just bought a fiiinnne Chevy pick up that will probably take him anywhere he wants to go and now he wants to buy a fancy, smancy german station wagon to get around. An oil change for that thing will cost more than you bought that truck for. Thats what I think of it!

Looks like a nice vehicle. I've been told that service on these can bring in quite a hefty bill.

markids77 05-11-2019 7:44pm

Not my style but if it is what you need I say good on you. Demo or service loaner???

Hoog 05-11-2019 7:46pm

I have a 2019 just like it in the garage (well, black interior). I understood the risks, and bought it anyway.

It is a blast to drive.

Grey Ghost 05-11-2019 7:52pm

I had a lease several years ago on one, but not the M model.

I love my '74 C10, but really don't want to drive it to FL. etc...lol

Hoog 05-11-2019 7:55pm

Take it for a test drive. Put it in sport mode and find some curves. Pretty quickly you'll forget you're driving an SUV.

I can't figure out the low mileage. It was serviced and sold by a dealer in Naples, FL. Later sold at a auction in GA. to this company.

Hoog 05-11-2019 7:57pm

BMW executive car maybe? Factory warranty is intact, right?

2 thoughts;

1.) for a 1 yr old, 6,5k mile to hit an auction block and end up in secondary dealers vs certified preowned at BMW dealer...... something is there to find out about....

2.) you're on the top end of price with $55k. Go price a new one with dealer warranty if you are going to spend that much. Base price of a 2019 starts at $45k.........

That's what scares me. I can't see a dealer letting it go to auction for some reason...just too low mileage and condition.

Low mileage cars like this one are pretty common around Naples where the car was sold and serviced. They call them "condo cars".

No. Per Carfax, private owner.

Likely nothing sinister there. Chances are the owner used it a few months a year while in Naples and gets something new every couple of years. Not unusual.

I've owned a few X5's over the years, I would never own a BMW out of warranty, and would never buy a used bmw unless it was from a BMW dealer and it was CPO'd with an extended warranty.

just my .02.

:iagree:Out of warranty, they are worth less than a rusted out '77 Vega. Would not have.

Even if it was a 'condo car', I find it a bit odd that a BMW in truly good condition wouldn't be sold as a CPO on a Bimmer lot, they can get more for them. None of mine were sent to auction, they were all sold as CPOs off the dealer lot within 1-2 weeks. I did chuckle a bit at this dealership's name though :Jeff '79:

That being said, they don't use the expression 'Bust My Wallet' for nothing...as has been mentioned, that oil change (and a great deal of other repairs/maintenance for that matter) is a $mall fortune. Agree with others, would never own off warranty :nonod: in fact, will be getting rid of the current one this fall in favor of new.

mrvette 05-12-2019 3:20am

So even 8 Quartz of oil and a filter of some type lets say 15 bux for the filter....just for the hell of it.....

I see an oil change costing 50 bux......yawl making it sound like it's 500 bux....

or is it just the crooked stealers??

:issues:

09CTSV 05-12-2019 6:18am

Oil change on the X5M I had was about $175 if I remember correctly. Change a battery for about $500. Injectors need replaced, looking at $8K. A lot of the stuff even if you have another garage do the repairs you would still need the dealer to reprogram the car.

Nowadays even regular cars can cost over 80 bucks for a LOF.Full syn oil changes are the norm.New Camry's have 0W16.

As for the bimmer fantasic car wife had one as a loaner for a week while paperwork was being sorted out on buying out her leased X1 drove great and would consider as the new X1 is based of the Minii and not a true BMW.
I would only buy new or CPO right from the dealer with extended service and warranty package.
One less headache in my life.
