"Oil is the fuel of the past"...
So said Fearless Leader today. His re-election chances are being dimmed by soaring gasoline prices, and he is critizing Republicans for trying to increase oil supplies. He says we should be putting our money into alternative energy sources, like solar and wind power, nuclear energy, etc., in addition to oil.
Problem is, there is no viable alternative such as a a solar or wind or nuclear powered car ("Buy a new Chevy Zap! Only $870M!'). There is basic research and a few crude models, but nothing even remotely practical for everyday use. Sounds like a cop-out to me, since there is plenty of oil available for perhaps hundreds of years. |
Since the 1st dumazz was about 25 miles down the road from me today I celebrated the fact by ignoring hi like I have done for the past 3 years. :yesnod:
BTW Hadn't seen ToothFairy post today, wonder if he was there whacking off? |
With over 55% of the country being nitwits, not a question but that jerk will win reelection.....sorry to say....
ABO, but look at the R fiasco, as if it wasn't planned and controlled by the PROGRESSIVES from word go.... |
He cares nothing of the common folk's well being.

By the way, I done did it. I had toyed with the idea of trying to get the graphic I'd designed (my avatar) onto a bumper sticker or something. I figured a way to make it into a 4x6 laminated car magnet :cert: Gonna get them up on ebay this weekend and see if I generate any interest :patriot: Here it is on a license plate so you can judge size (the plate's a friend's who wanted the number blurred...)

Oh no, the great apologist saying we can't use oil? What will we do?
|
Oil is the fuel of the past. I simply can not for the life of me understand why all of you are so quick to piss away a finite natural resource. Do you not know all of the products that are made from oil? When the world runs out - and is sure as shit someday will - those left on the planet are going to be royally fecked if we haven't come up with a suitable alternative.
Bye bye medicine. Bye bye fertilizers. Bye bye plastic. The world absolutely must find alternatives. Be that more nuclear power plants powering electric cars, natural gas powered vehicles, etc, it has to be done. Republicans are satisfied to sit on the sidelines with their thumbs up their collective asses while foreign companies develop this technology. Primarily because the energy companies basically bank roll the party. If we don't act soon, competing nations will pass us by and with more advanced products and lower manufacturing cost. Getting off oil is a national security issue. Iran and the rest of the middle east wouldn't have half the pot to piss in if the rest of the world wasn't so addicted to oil. Every time you put gas in your car some of that money ends up back with countries that hate us. Get a damn clue. Build a 21st century power grid and develop the technologies that get this nation off of its oil addiction. Sometimes I think people hate our president so much they are willing to cut off their nose just to spite their face. |

Of course oil is the fuel of the past. But it's also the fuel of the present and near future. Obama just wants to say that so in 75 years the history books make him look smart when we're flying around all Jetson-like in electric hover cars :D |

Where to begin? I know, with sound economic theory, common ****ing sense, and capitalism. Well, there you go. BTW, if anybody thinks that fossil fuel is required to extract those precious hydrocarbons for drug manufacturing, well, HOLY SHIT BATMAN! |

Public funding is not working. It just being wasted. Why avoid building up the economy NOW with cheap energy? We have plenty of natural resources available now. Oil and Natural gas. Why not use it since we need it. Why stop drilling or building our infrastructure like our president has? I disagree with our President. Oil is not the fuel of the past. It's the fuel of the hear and now. |

This country has always led the world in innovation and technology during times of economic prosperity. The first priority is to get the economy back on track. Obummer isn't going to do it with $5/ gal gas. We need to produce all the oil we can here to undercut foreign oil prices, provide cheap energy to fuel economic growth, which fuels innovation. Get us back to where we were during the heyday of the space program in the 60's, and the rest will take care of itself. I grew up in the 50's and 60's, and never have we been so productive and innovative. Economic prosperity is the key to reaching all our goals. The "progressives" are destroying this country by trying to turn it into a socialist workers' paradise. We will be Like Greece very soon if they are not stopped. |
