You don't even want to know what it was like in this newsroom yesterday.

This evening at another plant in Donaldsonville, a tanker truck of nitrogen being loaded blew up killing one and injuring 5-8 others.

I'm sooooo glad I'll be on vacation after tomorrow.

The plant I'm working at now has a bunch of guys who worked at Geismar at one point and/or knew people who were involved. Been a rough couple of days that's for sure.

Has there been any chemicals leaking liquid or gas? :willy:

That wouldn't be my first guess. Chemistry is complicated and dangerous. Requires a high degree of education and attention to detail. I've worked in chemical plants. Fires and explosions happen on practically a daily basis. If you're lucky they're small, contained, and not close to your immediate vicinity.

Not sure what you mean. Workers aren't asked for input on who gets hired. That's done by people who don't have to get their hands dirty. But it's not hard to figure out who's hazardous how to stay away from them.

I was referring to the possibility of it being a terrorist act instead of an accident. Terrorist=cowards.

Ohhhhh.

We have lots of Asians and Indians were I work. Maybe muslums? But I think their educations are more along religious lines as opposed to technical. Pretty sure if they were prone to sabotaging our industries it would have happened by now. There's nothing stopping them.

I dunno if it's my memory, or what, but it seems to ME, that there are a whole lot more incidences of plant fires, explosions, forest fires, than was a few years ago....maybe just TV/cable/computer information increase??

I dunno the news was the news years ago, but I don't recall Jennings/Cronkite telling of all these disasters on a regular basis....
