Anyone need a new Ford truck?

Good question by someone. How do they finish adding missing parts to all of these? Run them back through assembly? The numbers reported - 40k unfinished vehicles.

Onebadcad 09-22-2022 1:41pm

I searched and could not find an article detailing what parts are needed, I will assume the parts needed are not structural or body, and could be added without using the assembly line,,, I may be wrong.

A problem I see is that once the parts are obtained, the vehicles may be a model year older, which means the sale price may have to be discounted to compete against current model year vehicles.

My C8Z is in a similar dilemna, as:

1) production was supposed to start Summer 2022, this was delayted
2) production is now stopped, and MAY resunce 1st quarter of 2023, very few C8Zs were built before the shutdown
3) I am 698 at Ciocca / Kerbeck, I estimate they will get 20/month max
4) My initial estimate was I would have mine by in three years after production started, I estimated summer of 2025
5) My revised estimate puts me at summer of 2026, as I believe 20/month every month will not happen due to unanticipated, at this time, delays and shortages and shutdowns and pandemics that will inevitably happen

And of course, the price increases, not $107K for base, many believed would be about $85K, so to the $107K I need to add $4K per year for increases, so in 2026 the base will probably be $123+K, about $30K higher than I thought plus the additional tax bill.

Pretty certain I get $50K - $75K, maybe more, gross over my cost if it is not all I expected,,,

I believe it's chips or electronics from China. Ford fired their 'global supply chain mgr.'.

China could cripple and invade the US one day without firing a single shot by doing this.

if only we hadn't tossed the ability to make our own chips right here...... bet they'd pay double now.

I blame ALL past POTUSes and congressmorons for this, as this, and many of our drugs, and many other things, are manufactured and controlled by foreign governments,,, amazing that NONE of these idiots anticipated this, and that NONE raised issue.

Then again, weath accumulation is much more important than national security and national economy and national healthcare.

Went to Ford dealership monday for an oil change on my 2021 F250 Platinum.

Sales manager approached me with an offer for my truck more than I paid for it 18 months ago.

Indeed. But it won't be mine.

1st time I can remember not wanting a new truck.
Unless this one is stolen...wrecked...or has serious mechanical failure...
I don't know when, if ever, I'd let this one go. :cert:

In fairness, Trump pointed out those things.

google says production is 1000 a day.

And HD killed the Sportster. A couple yrs. ago Euro put a stop to imports. That must have been the market or what kept them alive. It also kills and entry level price point for new owners.

Egnalf 09-22-2022 7:48pm

Waiting on chips. Crazy. Who wants a truck thats been sitting around a few months, and no discount from msrp?

I bet that’s one plant.

Looking at sales numbers from 2018 -the highest year for sales in recent history. Ford sold 909,330 F series trucks this year.

909,330 trucks sold / 365 days in a year is 2,491 trucks built per day, EVERY day.

That’s a ridiculous amount of trucks. And that’s JUST Ford.
