That was the weapon of choice of OldBen when he served :yesnod:

A lot of people are still celebrating the freedoms we used to have. The last time I did it was 2019.

Oh yes they can. Pre 1898 cannons can be purchased and transferred without any paperwork.

A local Farmer ( about 2 miles from where I live now) owned a cannon during the Revolution and got a thank you letter from George Washington for allowing his troops to use it. ( he also got thrown out of the Mennonite church too )

Shooting off is the word for it.

Same ol with no clue on the meaning of Christmas, Veterans Day, Memorial Day and July4th see nothing of value in it except a long weekend.

I’m okay with it on the 4th, but the utter horseshittery of it happening a week or two before to a couple of weeks afterward is bull crap. There are a lot of ex service folks as well as animals that loud bangs scare the bejesus outta them. Now get the hell off my lawn…..

Most of us Civil War reenactors do infantry and arty. That was some nice recoil! We had 18 of them(limited due to space) at our reenactment this year. I have been to G'burg, Shiloh, etc...were we had over 100! They did a full scenario of a 45 minute cannonade prior to Pickett's Charge at G'burg one year. A SOLID 45 minutes of them! They shook the earth at the Shiloh reenactment. Most are original tubes with new carriages.

I've been waiting for tomorrow to sight in a couple of guns that I've changed around.

Yes, I have safe areas for that!

I just don't like making a lot of noise, in our normally quite spot. :cert:

Nice. A buddy of mine has two of those and shoots them just about every weekend. The police don’t care so much but the damn Yankees that keep moving down here get all worked up about it.

It's not the Yankees, it's the city folks. Mary's parents farm is 90 acres and when we shoot clay pigeons, the cops will drive past slowly within 5 minutes.

City folks think every time a gun goes off, somebody got shot :slap:

I lived on the western edge of Inglewood with a 5th floor balcony looking east. Nobody would have even noticed that cannon...
