New one on me - y'all ever heard of this?
I took the Z in for an oil change this morning. This is a great place that has done well for me in the past. On their inspection they noted that the tires were pretty worn and the lug nuts were "swollen", and recommended non-chromed lug nuts.
Anyone ever hear of anything like this? |

My C6 had those stupid 2-piece lug nuts. I ended up replacing them after a few years. :yesnod:

That because have summer lug nuts and summer air in tires duh....
|
yep, on my old f-150 I had to use Ford supplied lug wrench to get them off when I did the brakes... even then I noticed the "caps" were loose and even came off a couple of lug nuts.
Then you can use standard sockets to remove the lug nuts then if cap comes off- but are stuck carrying two wrenches if ya take a tire off on side of road POS design |
When I’m driven hard, my nuts swell

Dodge had a major issue with their 2-piece lug nuts doing this.
I swapped them out on all 4 Chargers I've owned as one of the very first things I did after buying them. |
Never heard of it. Guess, they have no reason to lie or try to cheat you into extra work. Pics? Do they look like that to you? Cheap enough to go ahead and replace with piece of mind about it.

Thanks! |
My Jeep has those lug nuts. It's barely 2 years old and they're already coming apart. I'm going to buy some McGard lugnuts to replace them.

They've been putting suck ass 2 piece lug nuts on GM cars for decades.

SOs 2 y/o Town&Country had a lug "welded" onto the stud. Stupid cap came off, and I ended up rounding the lug. Had to drill it out. Not easy :toetap: Pissed me off, as I use copper anti-seize on the studs, and rotate the tires twice a year. |
