Another true American heroe

A green Beret is to receive the Medal of Honor 47 years after his heroic action. Because his action took place in Laos he received the Army Cross because of the political climate in 1970. Finally justice is done.:patriot::patriot::patriot:

Am I correct in my memory that in 1970, we were still officially denying any forces of ours were in Laos?

I wonder how many other deserving of MOHs fall into this category.

When I see these, I always wonder why it takes us so long to recognize these people.

People should read up on the "studies and observations group" ,SOG, and thier actions during that war. One member was nominated for the MOH three times.

Some of the toughest warriors ever on the face of the earth.

EVERY medic/corpsman who sees combat duty truly deserves the CMH. The disregard for personal safety to tend to the wounded is beyond words. I've seen them work, up close.

Read a book on the "studies and observations group" ,SOG. They worked only behind enemy lines and the enemy always seemed to know they were coming. The SOG usually had a 100% casualty rate, killed/wounded on the mission.

A NCO found that when they submitted the mission plan to HQ, a copy was given to an Army Republic of Vietnam major by the US Army. The NCO told the Army he must be giving the plans to the enemy. The US Army said , he's an ally and there is nothing we can do about it.

Read that in Vietnam an Army medic was thrown out of an Air Force enlisted men's club. He was too loud/drunk for the refined AF types.

Within a half hour the AF types were surprised to see a 105mm Howitzer cannon being pushed into the club. A full Army Colonel walked in and made an announcement. "If anyone of my medic's is every thrown out of this club, I'll return and blow the roof off.":seasix: Go Army!
