What’s the Connection with Guns and Politics in today’s World?

I grew up with Guns, and the first thing my father told me about Guns was, they are for “protection”, “sport - target practice” or “sport - collection”.
The second thing he told me, don’t ever play with Guns. They are serious weapons used by Adults and should always be taken seriously.

So … when a person brings a Gun to a Political Gathering … what exactly is the purpose?
So … when a Political Ad shows a candidate shooting a Gun … what exactly is the purpose?

My question is, when someone brings a gun to a political discussion, what does it say about the person?

One other question, in your entire life-time, when did it become acceptable to bring a gun to a Political Gathering … other than to actually shoot the politician?

I was raised with guns and taught to use them and respect them much as you. I don't own a handgun and have no desire to consealed carry or open carry.

People do it becuase they can and are within the law, kind of a "use it or lose it" type of thing.

When did it not become accpetable? When the Declaration of Independence was written I can garuantee there were guns around everywhere and I bet some had to put their guns down to sign it.

But the question is ... What’s the Connection with Guns and Politics in today’s World?

For us citizens that follow the law I would love to open carry, vs my conceal carry like the cowboy days, I love Joh Wayne, God Bless the 2nd Admendment and the 5-4 decision, it is just to bad I can not open carry I would in a heart beat and this comes from some one who has been robbed at gun point, it sucked and I have carried from that day when it was legal to do so and will do to my grave, I hated looking down the steel barrel of a gun unprotected and feeling helpless. You take away my guns and only the law breakers will have them:seeya:

Ok … so the way you get someone to take you seriously, is to bring a loaded gun to a public event? Have you ever wondered how many Secrete Service guns are aimed at the head of people bring loaded guns to a major political event? :skep:

I guess that’s really showing them whose boss … one Darwin Candidate … coming right up ... or should I say down!

John Wayne was a Hollywood actor. just because you CAN open carry doesn't mean you should. ESPECIALLY when you are holding a sign that calls for the bloodshed of fellow Americans. that guy hurts people like us that "follow the law." guys like that are why gun restrictions are rampant.

People are banning our right to Bare arms (not fully but you get what I'm saying) so when there is a political gathering against it the gun carriers come out to show their own right to carry one.

Ok … I guess that answers my question; doesn’t help me understand it, but thanks for the info.

Here’s an idea … change the skin color to Black on the picture in the previous post, put on a backwards hat on and all other things being equal and WhaaLaa … see who will be standing behind you and your rights. :D

Z06PDQ 06-30-2010 1:54pm

every time I "Bare" my arms I get sunburned. :D

When there is a protest for gay rights, majority show up with their own gun (their significant other) To prove a point to do what they want.

That should explain it better by using an example ChasC5

Does everyone remember with Candidate Obama once made a comment about “Bitter and Disenfranchised who feel left out, clinging to their Guns”? How much grief, and rightfully so, Candidate Obama got over making that statement? What’s ironic is that several months later, his prediction came true. Do they (people who show up at public rallies) realize no one is intimidated? In reality, the Liberal Left is laughing and making fun of bitter people walking around with Guns as if they actually going to pull in out of the holster. :D
