Some shots from the archives. I haven't had much photo activity the past couple months.
Dallas Skyline w/reflection. Attachment 38475 The Milky Way - Taken at Ft. Griffin State Historical Site which is a post Civil War fort established to protect settlers in the area. The wagon was on loan from a nearby museum. We lit the foreground with very low level LED lights placed ~50 feet away. The inside of the wagon was lit with a small LED flashlight. Exposure was 30 seconds. Attachment 38476 The Elephant Trunk Nebula. Fresh edit of a shot posted in this thread a couple months back. Adjusted the composition via crop and added some saturation. Acquisition details are in the previous post. Attachment 38477 |
Triple,.....I love your photos :seasix:

Thanks man! Kinda lost initiative lately with holidays, wife's retirement, etc. Just a few clicks of the grand kids has been about it. I was looking through some of the photos in the link and ran across the one you took, I think of your daughter holding grandson(?) on the pier with the sun behind. You should sell that one. My stuff is always just documentary... that was some art! |

Meet Dexter the Dog!
Last month I was out on a ‘mental health’ scenic drive in the Bimmer toward Middleburg Virginia when I saw something in the middle of the road...upon closer examination, this dog was running right toward me, even making eye contact with me  Since this was a rural 45 mph road with no shoulders, and luckily nobody else around, I put my hazard lights on and stopped, and wanted to get him safely out of the road before possibly getting hit. Being a stranger to him I thought I may have to coax or corral him. Nope! As soon as I opened my car door, he hopped in like I was his personal canine Uber, and licked my face as if to say, “Thank God you’re here! I’m lost!” After getting my face properly washed :Jeff '79: I checked his tag and called the phone number...was able to reunite doggo and owner :) |

Another backyard astrophotography image.
Here's from my FB post... to lazy to type a bunch here. Note... the stars don't show up well unless you view the large version. ------------------- IC 1318 Gamma Cygni This nebula is often called the Butterfly Nebula though I think the nebula NGC 6302 looks far more like a butterfly. Approximately two hours (25x5 minute exposures) each of Sulfur (Sii), Hydrogen (Ha), and Oxygen (Oiii) emissions were captured with narrow band filters with a monochrome camera. Sii, Ha, and Oiii were processed separately and assigned to Red, Green, and Blue channels. The channels were combined and further processed to achieve a color pallet that enhanced the details of the nebula. Wide band full spectrum photos of IC 1318 are mostly shades of red. Captured with a Stellarview SV-70t telescope and ZWO ASI1600mmP camera. Attachment 39715 |

There is lots of stuff out there' ain't it?

Lots. At least there used to be. This object is 5000 light years away. The size of these things is what amazes me. I read that the bright areas towards the center are 50 light years across. Each! It fills the entire camera frame. If I pointed my telescope at the moon, it wouldn't come close to filling the frame - maybe 1/4 or 1/3. |

Thanks 04! The second one involved a bit of camera trickery... shoot on a holiday afternoon with a very dark filter and a long expose so moving cars weren't picked up. Had clean up a little in Photoshop too. Going for an apocalyptic feel. Shot about 3 years ago but seems appropriate now. |
