"Vintage number"? WTF is that?

NEED-A-VETTE 01-18-2020 8:03pm

Just watched and sent it to my dad. (He’s in the hospital right now.)

So any amount over the “fair market value” of the item is considered a charitable contribution so its tax deductible. I would assume the FMV in this case is the MSRP of the actual car that is delivered?

:yesnod:

Let's assume it was optioned out to a list price of $100K. He paid $3M so he gets a charitable tax deduction of $2.9M ( provided his accountant has all the ducks in a row )

Thanks. :grouphug:

He’s recovering nicely. Intestinal obstruction that ended up with a bowel resection.

He’s a retired GM engineer. He’s a big car guy.

The first car I have a memory of when I was a kid was his 69 Chevelle SS coupe. He sold it when I was about 10, so that would’ve been ‘84. That’s the one car he says he wished he would’ve hung onto.

He used to drag race with it. The first time my mom drove it (shortly after they were married) he told her to push on the gas peddle very gently. Like she was stepping on an egg without cracking it. He got the, “I’m not dumb. I know how to drive a car...!!!” shortly followed by unintentional doughnuts in the parking lot.

The way my dad tells the story...that was a quiet ride home. :leaving:

Did anyone catch why the McLaren Senna that was sold after the C8 went for $850k? that's basically MSRP.

If you want to see some cool cars, run over to CNC motors off the 210. I think it’s in Upland. They usually have at least 2-3 pretty unique cars for sale at any given time.

Is it a prearranged bid? What if someone else decided they wanted to outbid him?
