What site are you using? Can the draft be automated?

 I seriously used to hate in my other leagues when someone was absent and the computer picked their team--always turned out to be one of the best ones :kick: |

I have a team name and it isn't my forum name. If that's too much of a pain in the ass, well then....I'm out.

If need be, the draft can be pushed back/rescheduled to Saturday the 27th or Sunday the 28th.
|
And yes, picks can be automated with Yahoo. You can let the computer do it for you, or you can set up your own ranking list.

Ok I'm registered.

11 spots still available. I sent PMs to everyone (I think) who participated in the March Madness brackets. |
I would love to play but I am busy all weekend at a BBQ competition. Therefore, I would be unable to attend the draft.
|
Friday night really is a bad night for the draft....Poker night would prolly be a better one....Like a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.....:yesnod:

Guys, would this THURSDAY NIGHT work for everyone for the draft?
I changed draft time to 7pm Thursday for now, since a lot of people had conflicts friday and over the weekend. Entropy, I don't see you on there yet. Once you join, we only need one more person (need an even number). Who else wants in ????? |
Also, be sure to look over the scoring rules above. I added a lot of the optional scoring, and I made some slight changes, especially to QBs. Their touchdowns were only worth 4 points by default, I set them to 6 points just like every other TD. The NFL is QB-centric in real life, and QB's score the same amount on a TD in real life.
Just something to keep in mind as you draft. Also -2 points for INTs, so a relatively mistake free QB is important as well. |

I'm going fishing Thursday..........jus kiddin' ...It's ok with me. Wednesday would be ideal though.
|
Also if any of you guys are in a different time zone than EST and need it later than 7pm to be safe we can push the time later.
It looks like we'll maybe only have 6, so with 45 second picks and 18 rounds it shouldn't take too long. The maximum time if every pick took 45 seconds would be 1 hour 20 minutes or so. |

Also I believe I can edit the draft order, so if Entropy and one other person can get signed up soon, I can post the randomized draft order, and then if folks want to trade with each-other I could accommodate that. I know some folks like picking first, and some folks prefer closer to the end so they can get 2 picks close together. |
OKAY. I see jay13 has signed up. Entropy, we just need you to sign up and we have an even number.

In. You phuckers have had it. This is the fourth league I have drafted this year. I got this shit down to an art. For those that don't know better, be sure and draft a kicker in the fifth round. :0
|
Shit. We have seven now. Need one more for an even number.
I've deleted the sign up info. in the OP. I'm going to post a thread in OT to try and get one more person. |
First person to post up their e-mail in this thread: https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/o...-football.html
Gets the last spot. |
It's only Monday.....Why delete it so soon ?
|
Invite sent to Chris Fowler. We have our even number.
I closed it because we HAVE to have an even number. |

Furthermore, if 4 people post in this thread before draft time and vote to cut it down to 30 seconds, I will oblige. I'm the 5th vote for 30 seconds. Let me know guys. :waiting: |
I vote 30 seconds.....I have to take my kid to college on Friday morning @7am, so it's gotta be done by, at least, then....:D
|
8 People x 18 Rounds x 45 seconds = Maximum of 1 hour 48 minutes.
8 People x 18 Rounds x 30 seconds = Maximum of 1 hour 12 minutes. Two votes for 30 seconds now. Three more and I'll change it. |
30 seconds.
|
Ugh...30 seconds? Even 45 is too short...but I do like a faster draft.
I don't vote for 30...but I promise I won't quit if it changes. :D |
I'm hoping I can get out of here in time for the draft. :ack:

Great draft.
Thanks to (almost) everyone for showing up. My #1 target was Tom Brady, whom I thought I might still be able to get at pick #7. He was still there for me in round 3 when I finally showed up. Can't wait for the season to start. |
Will, how come I got locked out of the draft? I've been getting nothing but a connection error for the last 30 minutes.
|
Phillip Rivers FTW !....

Did you test your system beforehand? That sucks bro. :sadangel: There are some good free agents available if you see some you want to pick up i.e. Ricky Williams, Willis Mgahee, Marion Barber, LaDanian Tomlinson, C.J. Spiller, etc. |

I wonder if there is a block here at work. That would be weird, they generally block nothing at an institution of higher education. |

Entropy's team is actually really damn good. Shows how bright we all are.
On paper for week 1, I beat him at the QB and DEF position, but his Running Backs and Receivers beat me. And that's only because I have what will likely be the best QB and DEF all season, Tom Brady and the NY Jets. Entropy is rolling out this starting line-up: QB Tony Romo RB Arian Foster WR Calvin Johnson WR Larry Fitzgerald TE Owen Daniels RB/WR/TE Peyton Hillis DEF Green Bay Notable Back-Ups: RB Jahvid Best WR Mike Wallace WR Steve Smith If Steve Smith recovers to old form this year, Entropy has the hands down best WR core. Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald BOTH suffered form poor QB play last year and BOTH look to have MUCH better signal callers throwing their way with Kolb's arrival in Arizona and Matthew Stafford healthy again. And of course, he's got the #1 RB in Arian Foster, who should benefit from even more possessions and carries if Wade Phillips can improve the Houston Defense with his 3-4 scheme. I don't get the Foster-Peterson debate. The Vikings O-line is average at best, they lost their top reciever, Donovan McNabb is no better than Favre at this point, and the Vikings D is not what it used to be. On top of it all, Peterson has more wear and tear, and now has Gerhart in the backfield in his second season to help shoulder the load. The Vikings also play better Defenses in Green Bay, Chicago, and Detroit 6 games thi year than the Texans against the Colts, Jags, and Titans. Just my .02 |
My TE from Washington, is out with a knee injury.:shots:

I mistakenly thought it was a 2 RB + 1 RB/WR/TE league (my other leagues are) and I drafted 3 RBs from the start...put me a little out of sync, but I think I ended up pretty well set anyway. We'll see how it works out. Maybe some trade bait.
|
I didn't do too bad. I can work with what I got.
|
I have bad TE's....I'm being very humble, and not bragging....We shall see how this all pans out. The injury wild card is always a threat. It'll be a lot of fun !

Using last year's stats and our modified scoring, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady = #1 and #2 scorers. Again, I changed QB touchdowns from 4 points to 6 points to reflect REALITY - QB touchdowns are worth the same in the NFL, and the NFL is a QB-centric league. QB in the 1st round makes complete sense in our league if you weren't picking in the top half of the round when Foster, Peterson, Charles were available.:cheers::cheers: You're all gonna die at the hands of my dreamy QB and ridiculous defense. |

Fear me bitches:
QB Tom Brady RB Rashard Mendenhall WR Andre Johnson WR Stevie Johnson TE Mercedes Lewis RB/WR/TE Steven Jackson DEF NY Jets Bench: QB Matt Cassel RB Felix Jones RB Darren Sproles RB BenJarvis Green-Ellis RB Tim Hightower WR Wes Welker WR Santana Moss WR Nate Burleson TE Brandon Pettigrew DEF Dallas |
Quote:

Hmmmm.....
I've got too many good RBs and my WR core could be a bit better.... Tim Hightower OR Darren Sproles + Stevie Johnson for a WR better than Johnson and some other garbage of your choice anyone ???? |

Colt looked pretty damn good the other night. He's incredibly accurate and arm strength doesn't really matter in the West Coast offense. I think you're in for a surprise with regard to the Cleveland offense. |
