My family and I agreed to celebrate Christmas on the 26th due to inclement weather. I did, however, forget to inform Santa.

Dang he passed us and is in Malaysia now. :toetap:

I really wish he would stop by here..

Most the kids around here never get anything... :(

On the bright side though, I have been giving candy out to all of the Christmas carolers all night here.

Sounds like an opportunity to me. I know it is a bit late to try and buy toys for the kids this year (or maybe not?) , but how much money would it take to buy something small for kids in your area? I really dont know what all you have in your vicinity as far as shopping goes but I would be willing to send you some cash if you were willing to use it to buy some toys or candy for the kids in the area.

Really cool idea, but even if I had read your post here that night it was already Christmas here and nothing open.

Maybe we can do something for them next year.. :seasix:

Maybe used toys and kids clothes? :island14: or maybe the shipping would be more that things were worth, (not sure)

When I lived in Mandaue City, we lived on a dead end street with only about 40 kids that lived there, so I would buy a little something for the little ones every year along with candy's, and snacks.

The girls would get a baby doll, the boys had choice of a gun or a toy car.

The word quickly got out and each year more and more kids would show up.. :yesnod:

Where we live now there are over 400 kids! and no way I can tackle that one by myself.

Here are a few pics from Christmas 2007.

The smiles were well worth it.. :yesnod: :seasix:

We would start by having kids line up outside while my wife would hand out presents and candy to them.

I think next year is a great idea. :seasix:

I bet we can raise a few bucks to cover the kids....How much do you think it would take to buy dolls/cars/candy for the 400 kids?

I am really not sure how many kids there are, there may not be that many.

I really don't know, and just grabbed that number off the top of my head. Might only be 300 kids.. :island14:

I will ask around, and will also talk to the Barangay Captain as soon as I see him.

I'm guessing around $2, or maybe up to $3 tops each, and that would leave extra for candy for them also.

I do know of a wholesale place down in Cebu City, and I could travel there next year to make things stretch even farther.

I gave out a lot of candy myself this year, and there was also a German and his wife came here and gave out candy at the plaza (basketball court) this year.

They even brought along a rubber stamp, with ink pad, and stamped each kid as they collected their candy so they couldn't go through the line twice..

If we put this together for next year I will get lots of photos for everyone, and maybe even have them make up a sign thanking the Corvette Barn. :seasix:
