Check it out....3 shots of Dalmore, 12year, 15 year, and Reserve. I'll let you know in a bit how it compares to Glenmorangie.:datawiz:

Hotel has a promotion on it. $55 for the 3 shot sampler.

Datawiz 08-07-2019 3:23pm

12 year has a lot of bite, 15 better. About to try reserve.

DAB 08-07-2019 3:27pm

The Reserve was good, but the 18 year Glenmorangie that I got Scott is way better. :yesnod: Next time I'm getting him the 25 year. :yesnod:

That’s not even a good bottle of wine in a restaurant.
Not a bad price for the sampler you described. How big a pour on those? Was it a heavy ounce?

I tipped 20% on the bill, and also gave Christian a $100 cash tip, as tonight is the last night I'll see him in this setting. He's the one who has been doing all of the shopping and fridge stocking for me all these months. :yesnod: I think I brought a tear to his eye. He didn't want to accept the benji, but I insisted. :yesnod:

I'm not a Scotch drinker, but there was a hotel in a town near me that advertised it's bar had the largest selection of Scotch whiskeys in the western hemisphere. They had some that cost $600 for a shot. The place closed up a few years ago, and I wonder what happened to all that stuff.

carlton_fritz 08-07-2019 6:25pm

I'll spend my $55 on ammo.

The three bottles purchased at retail would probably total in the $300.00 range.
I like to try before I buy; that sampler would be a very wise investment if I decided I did not care for any or all. No nearly full bottles sitting unused, no buyer's remorse.

$600.00 a shot! Wonder what that was. I know there are some ultra rare whiskeys that can go for tens of thousands of dollars a bottle but it is hard to imagine a bar buying one of those and selling it by the shot.

I know you have to bring in water but maybe more water needs to go down the lines to keep them clear :yesnod:

$55.00 decision...

Fill my tank

or

Get tanked.

I filled my tank. Maybe next time.

I'm fortunate. My palate is about as sophisticated as a WalMart store.

Uncle Meat 08-08-2019 6:25am

Wife bought me this for Father's day/Birthday. I've had a few glasses and it's good stuff, but I wouldn't waste money on another bottle.
