Check out the cover (inside and out) of this month's Motortrend:

Theirs at $55k for 335 hp, and Chevy's at roughly $59k, mid-engine, and 495 hp? Toyota should be scared. :yesnod: They lost me, and I was a prepared buyer....until Chevy.

I really can’t wrap my head around Toyota making this big of a misstep. It’s a z4 not a Supra. I saw an article yesterday they’re trying to say the Supra is under-rated and it really has more power.....who cares at this point.

Z4 > Celica

:leaving:

I'd rather have a Z4 than a "Supra".

.......I'd rather not.......

Re-badge a BMW, then under represent on the horsepower. Real good idea.

It's not the 1960s / early 70s when that worked. Folks want real numbers now, not insurance friendly numbers.

They had their chance to promote their "supra" and they totally screwed the pooch. All talk, a lot of waiting for a lot of boring numbers.

Folks like Craig will take their money elsewhere now.

I'm sure the Fast and Furious types have a major hard-on for the Supra and will hand over the dough, without question, for the car.

All that's missing from that wannabe is the fart pipe and ginormous rear wing.

I'm actually sad the Supra is this. What a great name and now 'Yota came out with....that. It'll be interesting to see the units sold after a coupla years.

Wasn't it all about the block/bottom end of the supra that was coveted? Is the new one as good?

Supposedly, BMW's inline sixes are bulletproof.

Question is, will the river crowd adopt this car or shun it?

CubSmurf 08-04-2019 7:13pm

On paper., I understand going with the Bimmer Inline-6 as a powerplant and even using the Z4 framework to speed up the process of bringing a new Supra to market.
HOWEVA, it needs more ponies. It needs to LOOK different inside. And they went WAY too mild on the styling. And it needs to be cheaper.
