The ride home was rather eventful but we didn't discuss the exhaust/road trip as much as I had planned.

First, as I was leaving work, a co-worker rocked my world by letting me in on a little confidential tidbit - one of my key co-workers turned in his resignation. I refuse to let myself consider the ramifications of THAT over the weekend!
Then when I was on the way to pick Darrin up from work I caught what looked like movement of the hood of the car in my peripheral vision. It was - I'm doing 70ish and the hood is jumping up and down against the hood latch. :willy: After a quick assessment in the mirrors to make sure I'm not going to get run over, I get out of the gas and start making my way across the highway to the shoulder. In the process of doing that, traffic in front of me suddenly stops. There was an at least 3 car accident that had happened recent enough that emergency vehicles weren't there yet other than an ambulance on the other side of the highway. So I made my way through that and got over to get the hood firmly closed again.
The kicker? I'm convinced that the hood popped open when I was on my out of the area where my office is. I know it was closed when I got in the care to leave. They are resurfacing the only two roads in and out and the road is ROUGH. I tried to take a pic of it today but it doesn't come close to showing how bad it is. I can literally not drive more than 10 or 12mph, most of the time less. It's horrible. Driving on cobblestones is smoother. I sent an email to our COO and two partners this evening about what happened. Hopefully they will agree with me that the employees need to be alerted as to what happened. If it happened to me, it could happen to someone else. :( Ironically, when we were driving home yesterday, the hood flew open on a car going the other direction just as we passed it.
Then, after I picked Darrin up, first he had to dodge a 4X6 piece of tin on the highway and as we were exiting from one highway to another he had to dodge what looked like a gas leaf blower in the middle of our lane. I was beginning to wonder if we were going to make it home.
After our exciting ride home, we mowed grass. :lol:

was out all day seeing sights with our guests. took a 45 min walk around the property, went downtown to the farmer's market, went north to see some other sights, now back home getting dinner prepped. steaks, tater salad, veggies....mmmmm....

they depart tomorrow.

tested my new lights in the shop last night - they work great, plenty of light for late work. still need to add lights to office and finishing room later.

I went down to Allentown and visited some friends I use to autocross and do HPDEs with. Watched some old videos and they made clip and uploaded to youtube :) Just hung out, had a pow wow with my brother and we will probably get the ITA Mazda RX7 on a course...it will be the cheapest to get event ready :)

Nice to see you're getting back into the car-nut thing! I'm putting together a big-block motor for a bud to go into his 68 silver roadster. Should be putting out around 550hp+! 454 .60 over, total hydraulic roller, Edelbrock aluminum head, blah, blah, blah......should be finished by the fall, and ready to rock next spring.

We took a vacation day today to get the deck stained. We had planned to do it yesterday but it freakin' rained in the morning and looked like it could rain for most of the day.

Deck is stained (or what we can anyway). The parts we've done since the winter aren't dry enough yet. Oh, joy, we get to do this again in a couple of months. :ack:

Back outside to work on a landscaping project. It would have to be the hottest day of the year so far. We're under a heat warning through Wednesday.....
