I was a car guy from around the age of 3. I always had toy cars, built models, helped my dad fix cars, fixed my own cars, etc. I didn't join any forums until way after I was messing with cars. My Chilton books probably each are holding a half quart of oil as I type this. They've see a lot of years and a lot of repairs. Now I just keep a tablet out in the garage.

All my life. Given the 5 engine swaps I've done, and the numerous racing titles I hold, I think my car guy card status is intact.

Age 76 here now......grew up making GO CARTS, from lawnmower engines and wood and wheels used to scream around the block, in the left over winter sand at some intersection, and down to bottom of the hillside, spinning around like krazy.....I was NOT alone.....around age 12 or so......previous to that was into Lionel Electric Trains......and of course a minor BB gun hobby....and of course Bicycles and air guns we stuck into the mud/dirt to shoot each other with.....

but then my folks moved out into the 'country'......15 miles one way to a grocery store.....so Dad bought another car for 'Mom' to drive, but by that time I was driving age......a boring F85 Olds 4 dr sedan 1963.........so by time the .mil was past and I bought my first car a '60 vette in '66.......paid a grand for it......so started the car hobby.......my current vette is only a dozen years newer....IF you don't count mods.....

No. Car guy because I grew up working on them at my dad's service station, had a new '69 SS396 @ 17, and various Camaros and Corvettes since. And threw in a couple British sports cars along they way.

the local chevy garage did a fine job changing my trucks oil and rotating the tires on monday. they also did a 27 point safety inspection (all was well).

at this point in my life, i can afford to let others do that kind of work and take advantage of their expertise.

i might wash it if it warms up some day.

I was into cars long before the www got popular. I grew up in the car culture days of the '70s. The music, movies, TV shows, etc...all that has died out now. Car shows, cruising the local strip, etc...mostly gone, too. I've had everything from a VW Bug to a couple of midyear vettes.

I always enjoyed turning a wrench on them for fun. Everything from full frame off restorations to just a fine tune-up.

Pics?

Mine in 1978, during HS.

I've always been a car guy, especially a Corvette guy, although I happen to be Vetteless right now.

Should I start a poll of who owns a Vette?
