19 hours straight thru...no more Georgia Tech!

The 3 of us left at 3:50 am this morning to go gather GWiz's remaining dorm room items in storage in Atlanta. Since she's finishing her last semester from home, this was the last time we had to go up there.

Nobody wanted to extend the stay and have to deal with restaurants and hotels, so I rented a pickup truck (4 door, my Tundra is a single cab) and we set sail. Got there in 8.5 hours, took less than 1 hour to load, and then got back by 11 pm. Return trip had a bad accident on 75 that we circumnavigated near exit 352, which added about an hour to the trip. 19 hours straight, 3 drivers. Glad to be home, and to never have to go back!!!

GWiz had no emotions for GT.

I know, right?

Did the same thing back in May.
Picked up my youngest son from Witchita, KS.

23 hours straight thru (1,500 miles).

Didn’t she just start like yesterday? Time sure flies.

No kidding!

At least she's down to 1 semester. Done in November. :yesnod:

The internship with Schlumberger fell through, for obvious reasons...they are collapsing from withing due to the price of oil and COVID-19.

I don't suspect she'll go there, but she has many options. She truly loves the Salesforce ecosystem and will likely pursue that path despite her engineering degree. She already has numerous Salesforce certifications and is a natural in it due to her extensive (6+ year) background in the platform she used to build the Schlumberger solution.

She's interning this summer with the company I work for and has been stellar. Based on her performance, she will most definitely get an offer, but she's also hedging her bets (for comp comparison) by applying to the bigs (Deloitte, Accenture, IBM, ...) in the same space. I do think she'll wing it and apply with Cummins Turbo too. She does truly love the remote work option, and this career path certainly supports that. :yesnod:

Just like dad (degree in accounting), GWiz (degree in mechanical engineering), she will quite likely get into building software. :datawiz:

Glad she is out of Atl. It's turned into the Chicago of the south.
