A New Stealership Low

carlton_fritz 12-25-2020 7:10pm

That car became a used or demo car. That dealership needs to lose the right to sell Corvettes and GM should put them on probation. That stealership also owes the woman compensation for all the hassle of dealing with their greed.

The buyer definitely has damages, although I suspect she will still be officially titled as the first owner. Without the MSO, I don't see how Texas would issue a title for the car. Also, a Texas dealer has 20 days to go down and pay the sales tax and consummate the transaction with the state, to get the license plates and a title issued. Most dealers take every second of that time, to keep the interest they might make on the TT&L.

There's no mention of how many miles were put on the car, but I suspect the Texas dealer will want to make this problem go away quickly. I'm thinking $ 5-10K would be a quick and dirty settlement, and then there's the matter of the innocent Texas buyer who bought the car and then had it taken back. He has damages, too. He paid thousands over MSRP for a car, then lost the car. He has damages, too, and he will probably do pretty well out of this. And the buyer will be happy to let it drag on until he gets an equivalent or better car + some cash.

Maybe our resident backwoods country lawyer could weigh in on this? Hey @lspencer534! Get in here!

Many times I take quite a bit of that time (I have even longer in Ohio). It has nothing to do with the $.002 interest I might make. Title work is a pain in the ass. Make as few trips as possible. No reason to do it daily when you can stack it up for 1 transaction.

I may have come over and bought from you had I known you sell cars. Unless you sell Toyota.

Aerovette 12-25-2020 9:44pm

What dealership in Houston?

At least it was sales and not service being dirty.

This time.:leaving:

It wouldn’t surprise me if both the courtesy delivery customer and the second “buyer” get free Corvettes courtesy of the dealer from this fiasco. Chevrolet/GM really frowns on this type of thing and it’s something that can get your franchise yanked.

I own a motorcycle/powersports shop. More fun than cars. :)

I'm all used at this point. No franchise... yet. I do cars on occasion but generally something specific for a friend or family. With this crazy market, thanks COVID, it's about impossible to beat the prices on a typical car at the bigger dealers who are taking things on trade or lease return and putting straight out on the lot. With that said, feel free to give me a shout if you are looking for something. On occasion I can still snag something good.
