The Most Expensive Plate Of Hooters Chicken Wings EVER

About two months ago, I was headed to meet Mr. Threadkiller for some wings and beer when my 2003 Toyota Tacoma was struck by lightning. WHILE I WAS DRIVING! I heard a loud pop, saw a spark, and then all my gauges and idiot lights went nuts. Miraculously, the truck kept right on driving.

Yesterday, after a new ABS Computer, a new Throttle Body, four new transmission sensors, and a variety of other sensors and troubleshooting, I got the truck back after almost two months. The only two problems left which we agreed to work on after a few weeks are static in the radio (the lightining hit the antenna, so the wire may be roasted) and the ABS light still flashes when the car is in park (but the ABS itself works fine).

Yeesh...I had no idea that all these electronics were so tied together.

Next time, I'll have a pizza delivered. :ack:

Glad you finally got the truck back, and I'm hoping that there aren't any remaining gremlins to show up.

Send Bucky half the bill. It was probably his idea to go to Hooters wasn't it?

It's still cool that your truck got hit by lightning. Glad to hear it's almost all better.

Ever seen Bucky pout? You just can't turn him down when that bottom lip starts to quiver and he says, "BEER".

Hey now.
:nono:

The WHOLE story is that just a few weeks later we were having Mexican food at the weekly Rosa's gathering and lightning struck the house next door to Chef's place and burned it to the ground.

I tell you - it's like trying to eat dinner with Nikoli Tesla.

How were the wings?:D

That's it, anytime there are storms around I am going no where with you two. I am not pushing my luck any more.

Why would it be expensive? That should fall under your comprehensive insurance assuming you had/have it.

I heard Bucky secretly hid a Lucifer idol in the truck when Chef wasn't looking. the Man Upstairs got pissed about it. :D

Yes, I have it. I also have a daughter who was in two wrecks in three years, so I decided to pay for it out of pocket rather than file another claim.

Comprehensive claims are non-chargable... they do not affect your premiums. Only at-fault collision claims do.

Shhhhhhh.

If he finds out he paid out-of-pocket for something he could have had insurance cover for next to nothing, there will be thunder to go with the lightning.

Cobra4B 08-10-2010 1:24pm

Sorry... I was an insurance adjuster for a number of years. It amazes me how many educated successful people don't know the basics of their insurance coverages and how the industry works.

BuckyThreadkiller 08-10-2010 1:29pm

Hmmm. A conspiracy kook might think the industry deliberately made the coverages and claims processes incredibly complicated to limit the amount of payouts... or something.

:willy: Glad you're ok! http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/...oygirl/hug.gif
