Just another reason fakebook is next to worthless ( it's not completely worthless, it can always serve as a bad example :yesnod: ) Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale Quote:

I live on a lake in Northeast Florida, about 70 miles in from the shore. The water is in my yard now. It is about 5 to 2 1/2 feet above normal. I am really concerned about that. We have had depressions go over and fill my yard but it has not come close to the house.
Just a tropical depression is scary as hell we are on the southwest shore and there are no trees blocking the wind over this 700 acre lake. Wind comes screaming across. |
I"m scared shitless over the damn tall oak and near by some pine trees, 3 oak trees within reach of my house.....:sadangel::issues::shots: only way I have flood damage is if the roof comes off, or a very major earthquake.....

Euro models have it hitting the Carolinas.. We are saturated with water here now due to rains this whole summer. 2-3 Cat, and we are out of here.
Very nervous right now. |
I went out the other day and picked up a few extra supplies. I will go get some more stuff today and tomorrow. We have food now for about 1 week so I'll get 1-2 more weeks of non perishable food. I'll also get the big camping cooler out and ready for ice later in the week.
If the track keeps moving closer to FL ( and more estimates are showing it will hit us) I will get the shutters out and start setting up Thursday or Friday. I have 15 gallons of gas for the generator plus the 3 gallons in it now. We are inland of I95 in St Lucie county right where I95 goes the furthest west. My big concern is the drainage for the neighborhood. We are near the high point in the county so most of the water should drain. But shit happens. I have two water bobs so we will have 200 Gallons of drinking water available. |
We arrived on Amelia Island yesterday. Drove the Vette down from STL. The plan was to fly home Wed and leave the vet at the house (in our garage) until I come down for good in four weeks. Now looking at options. Thinking about driving it to Jax airport and parking in the garage there on an upper floor. Since we will be flying out Wed AM there should still be room there. I really don't want to drive it another 1100 miles home only to turn around and do that again in 4 weeks. Any other suggestions?

I'd also put as much up as high as possible in the house just in case. |

the euro model is all over the map. Our local station is now saying south Florida looks possible. Unless it goes up the atlantic coast, that would be good for me but bad for the south. Hope the best for all.
