Time to shrink my gun collection so I have some cash

How do you guys normally sell a gun? Local dealers claim they have too many to be buying used.

When they made LSD illegal in the 60s, they didn't buy back anybody's LSD.:leaving:

They want them bullets first?

Cybercowboy 09-21-2019 5:23pm

Don't know, never sold one, never will.

8Up 09-21-2019 5:52pm

We have a local ‘trader’ paper that always has lots of them in it.

I've sold one, to my brother. Will buy more, but not selling any more. I'll leave whatever I have to my daughter. She loves to shoot! :hurray:

Edit: if you want to sell, check out gunbroker https://www.gunbroker.com/, or armslist https://www.armslist.com/ :cert:

Whatcha selling?

I purchased a long gun from another forum member here. We agreed on a price and I sent him funds. He sent the firearm to the FFL holder I picked and did the transfer there. Extremely easy for both of us.

Get a current "Blue Book of Gun Values" and about 70% of current value is what a reputable gun shop should pay you.

Guns are like underwear you don’t sell them Or lend them out. That is if I owned any.

Those around here say they are not buying used until they sell some guns. They will do a trade, but not buy unless you take an extreme low ball offer. One guy actually said he would not be able to sell the Sig Legion. Too many cheap people around here. They will buy guns under $300 all day long, but not even look at one over 1K.

carlton_fritz 09-21-2019 6:53pm

I prefer to not sell, but could really use the cash. Maybe I should just buy a mask...:leaving:

I like Gunbroker. The site is easy to navigate and their fees are reasonable. Since you are selling handguns I would cultivate a relationship with a local FFL to handle transferring the piece from FFL to FFL at auction's end since the laws are tighter on pistolas. That will ensure your transaction is fully legal, and you will bear no direct liability if somehow something goes awry in the process. Expect to pay a fee of some sort... my local guy gets $35 to handle the paperwork, plus whatever actual freight is. Also plan to ship the piece in a real case of some sort, like the one it came in as opposed to a cardboard box.

I would love a 226 to park next to my 320... but the Legion is a premium piece and is indeed priced as such.

I was hoping to get 1,000 for it, but the next post after your post makes me think I am too low.

:iagree:

Looks like all those are new with no bids. I'm surprised nobody is bidding on the million dollar one.

Even though yours is unfired it is still a "used" gun and as such I think $1K is a fair price although with a week old Mustang parked outside it is out of reach for me at the moment. Search some completed auctions and form your own opinion... recovering 2/3 of purchase price would hurt but you would not be listing at all unless there was a need. Good luck and I hope you recover your full investment.
