That Little Faggot he's a Millionaire

Let's see if this gets me banned here - and I don't give a shit. I've had enough of censorship!

For the first time, I heard the censored version of Money for Nothing by the Black Crows Dire Straits. I always assumed the "faggot" lyric to be a quip about Boy George and didn't think much about it. Today, for the first time, I heard the censored version. I thought the woke crowd missed this song since I never heard the censored version.

And yes, my dear leftest friends, I have gay friends and acquaintances who aren't butt hurt about the lyrics. Let me explain it to you in simple terms. The song, the way it was written, expresses the writers viewpoint whether good or bad. Censoring the song does not accomplish what the braindead think it will accomplish. In fact, like tearing down statues, it accomplishes the opposite. Leaving the lyrics the way they were written is the only way to understand that time in music history. Get it?

It will be ironic if the Black Crows censor their own song at Jazz Fest. Rock and roll used to be anti-establishment. I will know if the establishment has taken over Rock n Roll after I see the Black Crows at Jazz Fest in October. Looks like Jazz Fest will be even better in October.

Oh yeah. Before some left wing loon, we know who, weighs in thinking I'm having a melt down. Understand I'm just saying we must preserve music, history, literature, and art the way it was created for future generations to fully understand. One of my grandkids told me she told her teacher a book had a bad word. I explained to her that the bad word emphasizes what the author is talking about and her feelings should not take away the right of other readers to read the authors original thoughts.

Seeing a statue of Andrew Jackson or hearing a lyric by the Black Crows Dire Straits causes one to think. Censoring causes one to not think about history and therefore opens the door to repeat past errors. Utopia is a dream, freedom and hard work is a reality.

Edit: Dire Straits, not Black Crows. Damn! I'm getting old.

I thought that was a Dire Straits song?

Y2Kvert4me 07-13-2021 8:12pm

Last I checked, it's a Dire Straits song. :confused5:

Oops. Damn I'm getting old! Anyway, the message stays the same. The Black Crows will sound even better.

A little too much to drink. The message stays the same.

I used to listen to that song on both Detroit and CBC2 radio stations. Canada was censoring the song years before they started censoring in the US.

Aerovette 07-13-2021 8:27pm

I have not heard the uncensored version in MANY years.

I remember back in the day when there was an uproar about the censoring of the lyrics.
Seemed silly to me to change the wording, presumably because some faggot got butt hurt.

If you want to get banned here, you're gonna have to try harder. :yesnod:

Can't understand singing and don't care what a songs intentions are. I make up my own words and intentions. Good luck censoring that... Dumb asses

The song was based on an actual delivery of a TV by two workers. One newbie and one grumpy old f*ck. They didn't realize they were delivering to an actual rock star. He listened from the other room and the old guy bitched about MTV and called everybody a faggot, said they didn't work and got paid for nothing. The song pretty much wrote itself after that.

Somewhere there was a grumpy guy who never realized he made a rock star many millions more, and a young guy who thought the customer looked familiar.

I didn't even know there was a censored version.

Back in the day, we used to say that Knopfler was "a little edgy". :yesnod:

The original version has the word "faggot" in it. What you might hear on the radio now, does not.

I am a huge Dire Straits fan but I never cared for that song. Nothing to do with them using faggot in the song, I just don’t think it’s up to the same level as a lot of their other music.

Decent riff and instantly recognizable. It was sooooooo overplayed on MTV that I got sick of it.

I like "So Far Away From Me".

Back in the day, that was Tipper Gore, Mr. 'I invented the internet's' wife.

That song was clearly written for radio.

There is a Police song, not too popular but there is a great line in it that I'm sure the pussies out there find offensive:

Quote:

"On Any Other Day"

You got it.
There's a house on my street
And it looks real neat
I'm the chap who lives in it

There's a tree on the sidewalk
There's a car by the door
I'll go for a drive in it

And when the wombat comes
He will find me gone
He'll look for a place to sit

My wife has burned the scrambled eggs
The dog just bit my leg
My teenage daughter ran away
My fine young son has turned out gay

Cut off my fingers in the
Door of my car
How could I do it?

My wife is proud to tell me
Of her love affairs
How could she do this to me?

My wife has burned the scrambled eggs
The dog just bit my leg
My teenage daughter ran away
My fine young son has turned out gay
And it would be O.K. on any other day
And it would be O.K. on any other day

Throw down the morning papers
And spill my tea
I don't know what's wrong with me

The cups and plates are in a
Conspiracy
I'm covered in misery

My wife has burned the scrambled eggs
The dog just bit my leg
My teenage daughter ran away
My fine young son has turned out gay
And it would be O.K. on any other day
And it would be O.K. on any other day

And it would be O.K. on any other day

Then there is the Steve Miller song that was always censored by some radio stations for say "All the funky Shit going down in the city".
Why are some so offended so easily? As the saying goes: Stick or stones.........
A word has never caused me any harm. If they did I'd be dead. We live in a world of pussies.
