A spider you'll never forget
Well, not really but this fugger was huge for PA standards. Almost a baby by Aussie standards. :Jeff '79:
He was right over the top of my head and I didn't see him until I happened to look up. Scott http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...sm6fxswu5.jpeg |
Wolf spider. Pretty common around here. Got massive fangs but aren't really poisonous to humans, and rarely bite. Unless you go f'ckin' with it.
Cool pic :cool1: |
Yeah looks like a wolf spider. When they are big like that, it they may have babies on the body. If you touch it, the babies scatter so it's best not to have one in the house.

Shed or house? ( I'm thinking shed since I did not hear your sweetie scream :D )

My grandfather was trimming with the pushmower behind the house when my grandmother opened the cellar door. At the bottom of the steps ( in the basement) was a 2' Gardner snake. She screamed so loud my grandfather heard her and ran inside. She also lost her voice for a few days  |

This was up at Mom's house at Lake Wallenpaupack. She is having the 2nd garage expanded to 2 more large bays with storage. Scott |

fuuuuuuu
Reminds me of the time an old GF sent me to her shed to get an old box. It had a 2-3 foot long snake's skin in it. I beat feet the hell out so I wouldn't meet the owner. :funny: |
:wow: :ohnoes:
:faint: |
Saw one like that the other day......... On the bottom of my shoe.:issues:

The kids around here play with them..
Catch them and keep them in a match box, call them spiderman.. :yesnod: What they do is put two spiders on a stick, one at each end, then the spiders will attack each other. The first one to fall off the stick looses that round, three rounds of falling off the stick is the loser.. :Jeff '79: I stomped my sons spider.. he cried.. :( There is some spider fighting going on in this video. |
Wolf spiders are nice to have around actually because they eat the hell out of other bugs. They can give a painful bite, I learned that lesson when I reached down to pick up a rock while mowing my parent's yard and grabbed a big wolf spider by mistake.
I've been bit by brown recluse spiders a few times but fortunately for me I'm not allergic to their venom. It just makes an itchy bite like a tick or mosquito. Not allergic to bee stings either but wasps really do a number on me. |
