Are plants sentient?

So we can't eat a living animal but it's ok to eat a living plant?

We know they sense their environments to a significant degree; like animals, they can see light, as a New Scientist feature explains. They “live in a very tactile world,”

I know some folks who have the IQ of house plants, and they are sentient.

I have never eaten a living animal. Literally, every last one of them was dead and cooked. And they looked good next to the taters and gravy.
