Chickens....and more chickens

Yesterday morning I had 6 chickens, then in the evening my neighbor come over and asks if we want her two roosters and one chicken so I said yes. then my daughter calls from tractor supply telling me they have chicks.....so she buys 6. We had 6 leghorns to begin with (classic white chicken with red comb) now we have 2 bantam roosters and one bantam hen, black with white marks, actually kind of cool looking. Our new ones are 2 Rhode Island reds, and 4 Americana's.. the RIRs should lay brown eggs and the Americanas will lay green or blue I guess depending on their mood or ???. Should be about 6 months before the babies are old enough to start laying and our leghorns are pretty old so we only get one or two eggs a day now. Just thought Id share.

Down one. One of the RIRs bit it this evening. That makes 14 left. Also I let the bantams out to roam around today and one decided he was too cool to go back in the coop. He’s up in the rafters of the barn so I think he’ll be ok.

Jerk chicken is just like regular chicken,

but it drives a BMW and doesn't care about your feelings.

I had 4 chickens and a rooster until my wife decided they needed to come out and play in the backyard and my German shepherd ate them.:sadangel:

Thursday one of the Americaunas took a dirt nap so I went to Tractor supply to get two more and they told me I had to buy at least 4.......so now we have 17 chickens....

Funny story, the checker at TS was new and put the chicks on a scale, then tells me triumphantly that they will cost me $3.36. Pretty sure TS doesn't sell chicks by the pound.
