my sister who is with dad now, for the last 5-7 years has volunteered at a local assisted living facility, she just provides someone for the residents to talk with, as they get lonely with no family in town sometimes. she's very good at it, she's a great listener. and over time, the people who run the place have noticed her value to the residents she interacts with.
and in doing this volunteer work, she's had the experience of seeing some residents pass away, and watching their physical progression and seeing how fast people basically fall apart. so she's been exposed to some of the early warning signs.
turns out, this is serving her well. she can see that with Dad now on morphine and oxygen, that his time is very short. so my other sister is flying up tomorrow AM to be with Dad and her. I just cannot leave here and go up there presently. I have my wife (Mrs. DAB to readers here) to take care of, as she has her own, lesser problems that require my presence. so that's what is going on as of now.
Psalm 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Acts 17:24-26 -
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
yes, God determines how long we shall live, so don't try to go messing with His plans.
