There are a few things to do in Grapevine. I lived downtown and worked at Willhoites for a while.
Take a stroll through downtown.. a lot of shops to check out. Willhoites is a good place to get a beer. Hit Bone Daddy's for some good BBQ. Scenery is top notch too ;) Best BBQ beans and cold ass 32oz beers! The Gaylord Hotel is a lot of fun to walk through. I would stay far away from Dallas. :D If you play golf I would suggest a day at Cowboys. |
You are going need some type of transportation in Grapevine! That is where the DFW airport is located. It would also be easier to go into Fort Worth from where you will be as well. Sundance Square and the Stockyards. Also some world class museums in the Art District like the Kimbel. Try Freds near the art district for lunch. You will be near the outlet mall in Grapevine as well. At the other place there is a thread in the SW section for a get together at the Rosa's in Hurst (Colleyville) on Wednesday if you want a cheap dinner and to see some Vettes and their owners. That may also be NASCAR weekend at TMS - about 45 minutes away. Have fun...

Ok, so this is a week away now...We are staying at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. We will be flying into Dallas Fort Worth, around 11am. We will rent a car for the week, so I won't be sitting in the room all week with nothing to do.
All of that said, We have been told to check out the Trail Dust restaurant, strictly for the atmosphere. She wants to have a good, Texan, steak, at a Texas Steakhouse for our anniversary. Advice? Any locals available at any point during the week of Nov 2-7? If so, we would really love to meet you! |
Fort Worth is a little bit of a drive through road construction. But during lighter traffic and you want to check it out:
These are the top 12 steak houses listed on one website: 1. Bob's Steak & Chop House 2. Cattlemen's Steak House 3. Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House 4. Eddie V's 5. GRACE 6. Hunter Brothers' H3 Ranch 7. Hoffbrau Steak Bar & Grill 8. Mercury Chophouse 9. Reata 10. Ruth's Chris Steak House 11. Silver Fox Steakhouse 12. Lonesome Dove The only one I've eaten at so far is Cattlemen's. Excellent food. Texas De Brazil is good but expensive unless you go at lunch, more reasonably priced then. Don't fill up on the salad bar/appetizers, you will need room for all the different types of meats they bring around on skewers and carve off meat for you. Its a unique experience. I'm up for Hard 8 run! Or meet up at a different spot. Also see this thread: https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/s...ctivities.html |

I have spent a little time in the Grapevine area over the years. The town of Grapevine can be fun to walk around. Drop in some shops and bars. As far as steaks, Bob's Steak and Chophouse is decent in a chain steak house kind of way although nothing to write home about.
|
It just so happens I'm going to be there, too. I was going to start a thread about it tomorrow. I've always wanted to meet all you people from there, so let's all get together. Thursday night would be good for me, but I'm flexible.:hurray:

Shoot me a pm, and we can see about making a meet up happen. :seasix: |
Del Frisco's is a damn fine place for a steak.

And... Despite being a 'chain' Bob's Steak and Chop house does a pretty darn good steak. Also consider JR's Steakhouse (not JR's Grill) in Grapevine. It might have a Colleyville address but it's just south of Grapevine on 121, west access road between Hall Johnson and Glade Rd. I believe. |
Del Frisco's is a chain, the one in NYC is outstanding, but I wouldn't call it traditional Texas steak house, it's more NYC traditional steak house.
|
If Thursday night is good for you both then:
DFW Peeps who's up for a Thursday Night meet up on Nov 7th? How about Coopers BBQ in Fort Worth or Hard 8 in Coppell, north of the airport? We have not done it in a while and we can meet vtelvr, his wife and MrPeabody |
I'd vote for Cooper's BBQ in Fort Worth!

I know Sunday-Wed nights are pretty open from what we know so far. Subject to change though. |
Thursday night is good for me and Mrs. Peabody, but if a different night is better for Vetlvr, we are flexible.:seasix:
Like I said, I'd like to meet all the Dallas folks, even the ones who don't post here much anymore. |
We stayed at the Gaylord as well and had a bunch of fun doing this: Segway Tour Rates and Information at Dallas Segway Tours -
and this: Experience Nature’s Adventure 2 | Dallas World Aquarium Lot's of restaurants, but the one we liked best that was close to Grapevine was: Grapevine Steakhouse | Prime Steaks | Dallas Texas Prime Steaks I even had an after dinner cigar in the place. Noice!:seasix: |
