Immediate Evacuation, The bear fire

Brutal! This morning it was super windy, had to stake down stuff before light out then when it did get light out it was smoky (it's been that way for some time here in Commifornia) but it was different today. It was like a cloudy day but it was red. I noticed but went about doing whatever with the kids then looked at my phone and saw an emergency alert "get out now" on my cell, geebus! Had to pack everything I could in the truck and get my kids out. I've never had that kind of anxiety in my life

Our road is closed now so I can't get the RV, tractor or anything else. We're in town now and safe at a hotel. Everything I keep seeing online is it's pretty much gonna take it out

THIS SUCKS!!!

Please Pray

Vic

Good luck man, hope the fire doesn't hit your area...
Peeps are important... Everything else can be replaced

I hope that doesn't happen to you.
Stay safe.

Fire map this morning. My place is 19 Happy Hollow Ln in the middle of this. We're a couple miles up from the lake and from the news and whatnot it's already down to the lake. We don't live there but there's a lot that do :sadangel:

We're safe in a hotel in town. Soon as the kids wake up, we're heading to the Gay Area, then I'll have my meltdown

Stay safe! My brother in WA got evacuated last night. It's so smokey here I can't see the sun.

:yesnod: The sky has been overcast the last couple of days and the light that hits the ground is orange. I can't smell it but there must be a shitload of smoke up above the marine layer. :yesnod:

Stay safe!!

:sadangel: Stay safe. You and your family are the most important things to save.

:seasix: I am happy to pray for you all. Keep you and those kiddos safe, it really is scary seeing the pics that keep popping up on my twitter feed.

Dang man, I’ve dealt with hurricanes my entire 53 years on this planet. So I get you can’t always take all your stuff with you before it’s too late.

But you literally just needed to hook up, disconnect and run with the camper. And you were actually there.

What gives?

Include Washington state and Oregon, too. They’re being slammed with wildfires, as well. :sadangel:

That’s crazy. Be safe.

I live in Woodland which is about 23 miles northwest of Sacramento, and is dusk outside due to all the fires and smoke. Wife made a mistake last night to open up and run our whole house fan, and we wake up with ash in the house. Spent most of the morning vacuuming. The entire west coast needs a good soaker to come in and drop 2-3 inches of rain.

Sorry to hear it's gone but the main thing ( and most important) is that you're all safe.

You can replace the material things :yesnod:

So why couldn't you take ten minutes to disconnect electric, sewer and water hookups, hitch to your truck and drive off?

:waiting:

Sorry :sadangel:

It's good to hear that you won't be attending any funerals or sitting bedside in a hospital praying. Sometimes the blessings are hidden behind the tragedies.

I took the hitch out when we parked it, It's at my uncle's and I have to use the tractor to get and pick it up. No time for all that

I actually thought that would be the reason.

Oh well too bad- insurance?

FWIW I store my fifth wheel hitch hanging from the trailer kingpin. Easy enough to drive the truck underneath and lower the hitch down. Minimal effort taking the hitch out of my truck, and it's always there if I need it.

Ten minutes? When they tell you to GTFO, you GTFO. Sometimes you don’t even have two minute. :funny:

First time up there since that fateful day. I didn't want to go but my wife insisted & needed closure, It was an emotional day. The entire road from the lake and up is unrecognizable. Good news, the tractor & well survived the camper not so much

We registered with FEMA, Red Cross bunch of other stuff so we might be able to rebuild. It will be many years before the trees and vegetation grow back

Steve_R 09-26-2020 8:34pm

Hate to see that. Wishing you the best whatever you decide to do.

Rodnok1 09-26-2020 8:40pm

Were you building a house or is the foundation all that survived the fire? Sucks man...

So it's not a total loss then. Yeah , shit happens but you all made it out. Pick out another camper and start "version 2" of camp. Recall the things you wanted to alter and do that now. :yesnod:

The low vegetation will be back shortly so it will green up again.

Best of luck
Jeff

We've got 10+ years to retirement. For now we've been using it for a vacation/bug out spot. The plans for building it out were still in it's infancy.
