Finally a MPG thread!
I don't think we've had one of these here yet, I could be wrong but like my wise old Grandfather used to say... "What ya gonna do?":bilmem:
Anyhow.... Driving from Suffolk, VA to Northern MI I averaged 24.1 MPG with speeds generally around 80 - 90mph on the highway with a couple triple digit runs thrown in for good measure.:auto: I have heads, cam, Vararam, 3200 stall, 3:42 gears, blah, blah, blah. I don't know if 24MPG is considered good but this is the first time I actually checked it since I've had the car and I can live with it. OK, I got the ball rolling, let's here what everyone else is getting. |
Sounds reasonable given your mods...
I've never bothered to check mpg, but I do know this. With just headers/air filter, I used to be able to make it from here to Bowling Green on one full tank. 520 miles - 18.5gal tank would be 28mpg, so I was averaging better than that. I've been there twice since heads/cam, and know I can no longer make it on one tank, but never calculated to see just how bad it is. May have to do that next May. :) |
:takdir::takdir:Did Texas to Carlisle last year have H/C intake etc In 01 Z06 doing manual calcs I averaged 28 mpg I'm down 2 mpg from stock #s

We just came back from a trip, I put a 1,000 miles on it and spent a lot of the time in the 80 to 90 range. I reset it when we left and the avg.was 24.7 MPH.
I have the same gears and a stall. |

(I don't really call BS but this thread isn't growing the legs I thought it would so I need to add a little accelerant.) |
I checked mine On Florida I-95 once going 65mph cruise on and got 29.5 ,hell at 60mph you are barely doing 1500 RPM .

Reset the average mileage when I filled up in Nashville heading south and pulled into St. Francisville showing 34.9 MPG on the DIC. One days drive with about 95% of it freeway. :seasix: Overall did 7 states and 2,331 miles. Ohio to Kentucky to Tennessee to Mississippi to Louisiana to Alabama to Georgia to Tennessee to Kentucky and back to Ohio I pulled back into the driveway showing 31.9 MPG. |
On a few runs to my parents house (480 mile round trip) I have gotten 28 mpg consistantly. :seasix:
