What would you pay...

For a COVID19 tester you could do at home and have results in minutes? Test your family, your guests, etc.

This test would also be adaptable for future flu (or other) viruses.

Nothing. Getting a test when you are not sick is pointless. You could get infected with your very next contact later today, tomorrow, or the next day. YOu can get infected by going to the store, getting gas, accepting a food delivery... in any number of ways... so what do you do? Just keep getting a test every day to ensure you are still negative?

On the other hand, if you are really sick, and experiencing the symptoms of Covid-19, then what will it prove? Yep, you’re sick? No shit Captain Obvious.

I read somewhere that if you've recovered from COVID19 that you could have an immunity to it and then be able to get back to work. So that would be one reason to be tested.

Knooger 03-26-2020 12:14am

I've been sick for a while and it's possible I had coronavirus, or just the flu. I don't know if I can relax some or wait for another heinous illness.

I’ve read elsewhere that you can contract Covid-19 more than once and immunity is not guaranteed.... lol

That's why I put, "you could have" immunity for it, I don't believe they are sure either way. But I would like to know what I had, if it was covid19 I would feel better knowing I already did it and if I was able to get it again chances are it would be less severe.

conclusive virus testing is via DNA isolation and incubation; it could never be instant. CV virus testing on the best analyzers is a 3 hour test; 24 tests per kit, 2 are used for controls.... so that's 22 completed patient tests every 3 hours - per analyzer.

Instant screening tests (anti-body type) have a lot of false positives and false negatives. If a screen test says you're negative for CV... would you trust it ? If the screening was positive, that would lead to yet another test, a confirmatory type test (which is the current CDC variety).

Exactly. My wife's boss is horribly sick. It sounds like Covid19 because she says her cough is really dry, and seasonal flus usually have a phlegmy productive cough. But at the end of the day, does it matter? Either way, she should be staying home until she feels better, isn't coughing, and has been fever-free for a few days.

New York State has been getting 1 positive test out of 20+ administered. That sounds like a bunch of nervous Nellie's just wanting to get tested with no good reason behind it, and a lot of wasted tests that are currently still in short supply. Dumb.

I think that applies to everything from a rash to cancer. So why bother?

All these sheep are lining up to throw money away. Why not have a bag to collect some of it?
