She just went into surgery about half an hour ago. She has difficulties with anesthesia allergies so she is a unique patient in that sense. Our usual anesthesiologist retired recently, so we have to "break in" a new guy. I met him today, he is a former Navy fighter pilot and Naval Academy graduate. I have lots of confidence in him. We are using a nerve block in the lower spine and electrical pulse stimulation to cancel pain. She will be conscious during the surgery, using noise cancelling headphones.
This is a very unique situation, but we had many meetings and planned this all out and it seems to be going well. I will keep you posted with a few hours from now. Much thanks for all the well wishes.:seasix: |
Sounds like you were very smart to plan ahead :seasix:...... again, good luck hope all goes perfect

I'm sure everything will go well!!:seasix:

Good News! I just spoke with the doctor and anesthesiologist and everything went very well and as planned. This doctor has been doing orthopedic surgeries for 35 years and he said ten years ago the just called this injury a form of bursitis and treated it with pain meds and injections for the rest of your life and you just lived with it.
He said the difference now is the MRI and other imaging capabilities they have it gives them a pretty accurate picture of what is going on and what to expect when they go in. I wouldn't call it routine yet, but I will say it went as planned. The recovery comes next, and it will take some time, but it looks like we have a bright future to look forward to. Thank you all for all the prayers and good wishes.:seasix: |
Good news. Glad to hear everything seems to have gone well :seasix:
