While I believe you have good intentions, the reality would be a train wreck. The UN you'll often see will be dudes with questionable, at least, intent. Throw in some Europeans for a side of "Well, we don't want to shoot anyone" and the shit show will be in full effect.

So the UN is inept...I get that. But sending our us military into the ghettos where they cannot return fire is a suicide mission and certainly not something our brave men and women signed up for. If Chicago thinks they can solve their own problems, great! So what would the blue hats do? Not being able to return fire would not be a good thing from the start. The rules would have to definitely be different. As for a solution, it's well past an easy way. Why not force Chicago to take care of it's own problems? They could easily pass the gun violence problem onto the federal govt by prosecuting firearms infractions in the federal courts. Mandatory 5 year minimum prison terms are the current law.

No amount of outside intervention will fix the root of this problem. Until the affected communities find the strength to denounce the welfare state, find meaningful employment, foster two parent households, end the objectification of women, and in general become useful members of society so their offspring have hope of advancement in the world instead of despair and desperation there will be no peace. No outside influence can end this... these people have to grow up on their own and until something forces them to it will continue.
