Skunk Saved by Detroit-Area Police Officer _ Sans Spray

A hungry skunk whose head was stuck in a yogurt container has a hero: a suburban Detroit police officer.

Rochester Officer Merlin Taylor's encounter Sunday was recorded from his police car. The video shows Taylor putting on a rubber glove and cautiously approaching the skunk, which was running in circles.

Taylor removed the yogurt container and ran when it appeared the skunk might spray.

Sgt. Mark Lyon doubts that Taylor will get an award, but the sergeant is impressed with the officer's quick moves. Lyon tells The Detroit News: "We all had a good laugh."

It's not the first time Taylor has come to an animal's rescue. The department posted a picture on its Facebook page of him rescuing baby ducks from a storm drain
