Got another neat old car

Ran across this one a few days ago. While not what some would call a classic or a hot rod I always wanted one back in the day.
She's a 1986 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Woman bought it in March, 1987, with 2300 miles on it. It was used as the demo at one of the local Ford dealerships. It currently has just under 92k miles. Full power, and a state of the art (for 1987, anyway) cassette player that still functions. Everything works including the ac. It has been converted to R134. Been garage kept its whole life. It was painted a couple of years ago due to the 80's crappy paint that faded on the hood and roof. It isn't show quality but it is a beautiful driver. Interior looks like new. Runs and drives excellent. The previous owner passed last year and the husband said he couldn't stand seeing it every time he went into the garage. I've had a dozen plus Tbirds and Cougars but they were all the body style after this. This one is the Fox platform, same as the Mustang of that era, and would lend itself well to any mods that a Mustang could use. I intend to leave it stock, fix a few little small issues, and then drive it a little while before I sell it. And yes, I still have the '89 Dodge Ram I bought last year in the background. About to turn 124k! Attachment 55134 Attachment 55135 Attachment 55136 Attachment 55137 |

Near perfect original interior. Never been smoked in! I had to fight the urge for a cigar on the way home.

Huge trunk. Unmolested (and undetailed) underhood pic showing the massive 155hp turbo four. Wheels still look good.

I had 2 mid 80s birds. An '84 auto with the 3.8 and an '87 turbo coupe 5 speed.
I love the old turbo birds. Lots of fun to drive. I have a higher res shot of this around somewhere. This was late 90s after some jackass hit my passenger side in a parking lot. Car was near mint shape before that. :issues: Scott https://i.imgur.com/2JMNfVjh.jpg |
My boss back in the 90s had one of those. Nice looking cars for the time. :yesnod:

Test drove one of those once. Seemed like a pretty solid car but it ran out of gas a mile from the dealer. After walking back and telling them where they could pick up their car I went shopping elsewhere. I was not a happy shopper.

very nice!

Nice find.

Nice find. I had a red '84 that I traded in on my '90 Chevy dually.

That's in real nice condition, friend had one until he got drunk and met an oak square on. Front bumper touched ends. They needed some kind of ground effects...
Somebody always wanted to race me with their turbo coupe. |
Knew someone that had the manual version that couldn’t drive it smoothly to save his life. Lol. Cool car.

Great car... memories of my youth.

I like the nose on the '87/88 better but it is what it is.

I had a loaded out 1990 with a V6. I really liked that car. Great size, smooth ride, all kinds of creature comforts. That gen was bad for blowing head gaskets...and mine did. It became a 5 cylinder water pump. Dealer gave me 500 bucks for it.

My mom had that car when I was in high school. I tortured the crap out of it! :yesnod:
|
Sweet. You have a knack for finding the good ones!

Recently had lunch with an old pal and his wife I hadn't seen since the mid 90s and they couldn't stop commenting on how I looked exactly the same. Made my day  Scott A few weeks ago at the marina in FL with my "little girl" Not bad for an old man https://i.imgur.com/elQBsl5h.jpg |
