Tires blowing??......
Coughy chat in driveway this AM, Chuck mentions some blurb he heard/read about folks pulling into gas stations, filling their tires, and the damn sidewalls blowing out.......:confused5:
happened many times, and so MY only thought is China tires, and he mentions the rims on many new cars have no LIP on them, that portion of the rim that turns out for the last ~ 1/8 inch or so, forming a smooth turn on the inside to give the sidewall some smooth surface to ride against in a turn/hole/object..... you guyz hear anything??? |
Nope, not seeing that around here.

There may be a correlation between people needing to add air to low tires and then the tires blowing out. If you've driven on a low pressure or flat tire for any length of time, you've damaged the sidewall of the tire, which is why you're supposed to stop and change or inflate a tire the minute you have an inkling that it's low in the first place.
So let's say my tire is going flat. I stop to air it up at a gas station, get it inflated, then drive off and it blows out. It blew out because the sidewall was already compromised, maybe because I way over pressurized it and since the sidewall was compromised anyway.....boom. |
