Battery Life

I bought my '04 Z06 in August and have noticed that it was dragging a little when I started it.

Checked the battery and it was the original AC Delco from March of 2004. I've never had a battery last that long, was on my 4th in my '01 C5 when I sold it in '07.

Installed a new Optima red top today and all is well. :hurray:

I'm looking at replacing the battery in my '04 as well. Keep us posted on how well the Optima holds up.
Will you be doing much driving this winter or more storage?

My 98 has only had two batteries.

How long does the Optima last vs. a standard cell battery?

My 99's batteries have all lasted 3 years.

So far, I've had one original Delco and 3 Optima Red-Tops. Got my 4th Optima under warranty last year. For the first time I'm using a battery tender when it sits idle for more than a week. We'll see if that makes any difference.

:leaving: :waiting:

It should. I leave mine on the CTEK when not being used.

What is the benefit of the Optima over a standard battery? The specs are the same and the replacement warranty is the same but the prices is $70 more for the Optima.

The Optima is a dry cell unit meaning it can't/wont leak down on to the computer that resides just under the battery tray.

Ron brings up the most important reason to choose an Optima battery. :seasix:
