Dipstick Cleaner

I came across this in my father-in-law's car as I was getting ready to sell it after we moved him into a nursing home. How many of you have one of these and use it on a regular basis? It can be mounted under the hood for easy access.

My on board dip stick cleaner has always been a greasy rag wedged in the engine bay. Pics of the fancy, store bought dip stick cleaner?

Never seen one of these before!? Cool.

Under-hood dip stick cleaners were very popular before the advent of the PCV system.
Cars burned/lost a lot of oil due to engine design, and monitoring the oil was a necessity compared to today.

The cleaner was designed to promote the consumer to check oil without fear of getting oily/dirty, and sold at gas stations, and some were even used as free promotional items.

My buddy has a box full of promo cleaners is the only reason I know this....
