Night Pic at the barn

Well, I found out that taking night pics is hard. Ya gotta fiddle with a lot of settings. All that automatic stuff is about as useful as teats on a bore hog.

Best of the bunch here. Even on a tripod, the camera shake was hell when I snapped a pic. Finally, I went and bought a remote which improved things quite a bit. Shutter and ISO settings are more of guess to me at this point.
Still got a lot to learn. Any tips for night shots are greatly appreciated.

Tried to get the horses posed so that I could get the moonlight highlighting off their silhouettes. About the time I'd get one to stand still where I wanted him, the other would come over to me; sniffing over the camera, bumping the tripod or standing in front of the camera. Then the one I had posed, would come over wanting attention. Next time I want to get night shots of the horses, I'm bringing help.

I don't know how to get the EXIF data. What were the settings?

I, umm, forgot the shutter speed. Had the flash turned on the picture that's posted.
The ISO was set to 100
Auto focus was off.
Stabilizer was on.

I could show you if I was there. Here is something most people don't realize...moving objects won't show up in a long shutter speed shot. It's possible to carefully move something into the shot to block the moon briefly so you can get more exposure everywhere else while not washing out the moon.

another trick fro camera shake, put it on self timer so you are not touching the camera when it snaps.

nice pic:cheers:
