Problems with Chrome booster and Master cylinder from Zip Products

1976.
I bought a replacement booster and MC from zip products, and I may be having
a problem with the push rods they included.
See 1st picture.
They included an adapter that goes inside the throat of the master cylinder (black, 1.5" long).
The push rod that goes in the booster is 2.375 long. When I put my measuring tool on the MC,
flip it over to measure the booster, the push rod is a little more than .125" too long.

Zip also included a long push rod (chrome, 3.375" long), but if I leave out the black adapter from
the booster, the rod is too short by 0.375". None of the rods/spacers are adjustable.

Has anyone used the black adapter and shorter rod without the brakes catching?
Master and booster made by MBM (china), booster looks like original booster
but push rod set-up is different.

I asked ZIP, they don't have any techs, and suggested asking CFC3.
The on-line only tech site for the manufacturer says tech tips for sellers only,
go ask ZIP.
Anyway, they do have a tech sheet that says use the adapter and the short
push rod, but I worry that the brakes will drag. I'll mount them Friday and see.

Just a guess but could you just use your old push rod?
Good luck

I've done single to double cylinder conversions before and had a similar issue, the rod being too long or short. My solution was to cut the rod, thread both ends and install a threaded connector and lock nuts. There are enough threads on the connector to make the rod length adjustable.

Put the shiny stuff in today. That was quite the jog job getting that booster out.
Went with the short pin and adapter inside the MC, doesn't sfeel like
it's dragging. I'll find out more tomorrow after I power bleed the system
down thru the Master cylinder.
The first 2 pix are the after pic. The third is the before (original booster)
