I've Been Curious. (Motorcycle Content)

I've been curious about this motorcycle for a few years now so today I rode out to a local Ducati dealer and took one out.

This is a Ducati Diavel;

V4
1,158 cc
168 hp
465 lb.
MSRP $26,995

The black one was the demo bike, but they do have a red available. (It'd be red for me) This ain't no Harley. :Jeff '79:

Thomas is coming out as bike-curious.

I mean, I guess it really wasn't a surprise. NTTAWWT

Edit: Those bikes aren't to my taste, personally, but I can recognize work of art styling, and they're no doubt scary fast. I wouldn't be coordinated enough to do justice to those bikes.

Uncle has one. Well, ex-uncle. Aunt divorced him for spending her money on things like the Ducati lol
I imagine it feels like riding a goldwing except higher levels of smug.

Beautiful motorcycles. Had 3 of them over the years. The “Ferrari” of motorcycles.

Not sure I agree with that but I've certainly heard it before.

Pulled up some vids to hear what it sounds like. Was hard to hear anything with those tennis shoe wearing motormouths constantly yapping away. What little I did hear didn't thrill me.

HP isn't everything IMO. Gotta have the torque. Doubt it'd pull away from my Valk before I hit the aerodynamic drag wall. No problem though, I'm not a triple digit kinda guy.

My H-Ds make gobs of low end torque which means you're not constantly sloshing through the gear box. This Ducati was MUCH different. I was only out for a hour and I bet I changed gears 2000 times. :Jeff '79:

C'mon, you didn't fit in that seat. :D

Yup, that one video I watched the guy wanted to see if he could complete turning a corner from a stop before needing to shift up to second

Almost got squished from behind by a jacked up monster truck once.
Stopped on a yellow light to let the oncoming car complete his turn. When I heard tires squallering up behind me I whacked open the throttle aiming to t-bone that turning car. The guy saw what was happening and pegged it to get out of my way. Super close call. Point being I hit 90mph in first gear... Letting off the throttle isn't much of an option when holding on has priority

I appreciate the older 2 cylinder Ducs.
These newer models you posted, not so much.
I'm too old for that.
:sadangel:

I have not ridden nor heard the music that comes from the V4 but I have the Vtwin and it’s was sex.. that red one looks bad ass and I wouldn’t hesitate

A friend recently picked up a Ducati Scrambler 800 for his first ride. He has no regrets after 4 or 5 months; even more so after adding a windshield.

:Jeff '79: You could herd cattle between the fender and rear tire!

What a motorcycle is supposed to look like:

I've already got two of those but thanks. :yesnod:

I have yet to buy a motorcycle, as feel too many babes would be all over me, and I really need to limit that.

A comfort engineer can be very handy on a long ride but they're a lot like guns, even if you have several they're only useful one at a time.

Sounds pretty good with an aftermarket exhaust inside a parking ramp :D

This is why I quit riding 30 years ago.

My dad only ever rode a motorcycle once and I was there to see it. Going downhill offroad he hit the front brake stopping the bike in its tracks. Rear end came up and he went over the handlebars. I bet that bike still lives in a box somewhere

That Ducati Diavel is one God awful ugly motorcycle. :ack:
