MOD Bug bit SUPER HARD....
Seeing as how winter time has been dubbed "mod time" this winter the bug has bit me pretty darn hard..... Right now plans are to re-do the entire stereo. 4 amps, 2 subs, new door speakers, housed in custom fiberglass door panels, a center channel speaker, new head unit and of course lots and lots of DYNOMAT!!!! Along with a harness bar, 5 point harness and I am also getting my tails and marker lights tinted by my boys at autobuffs..... Oh I also forgot adding a TigerShark hood with custom graphics..... Man..... I am beat from just :type: all of this...... Stay tuned for :camera: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 |
Sounds like a good way to weather Winter! Have fun

Harnesses are more work to get in/out of and unless you're strapped in tight they provide little protection. Furthermore, once you're strapped in correctly you can't lean forward... so unless you have very long arms you may find you can't reach everything you're used to... forget about getting into the glove box. Lastly if you're in a bad accident where the roof collapses your torso will be held upright. Some people are big proponents that you shouldn't do harnesses unless you have a proper roll-cage and then w/ a cage comes the need to wear a helmet (your head impacting metal in a crash isn't very good for your head). The C5/C6 platform has a very strong roof structure for a stock car so you're safer than most... I ran harnesses and a BK bar in my car for a few years while doing HPDEs, but I never wore the harnesses on the street. My $0.02 take it for what it's worth... |
Basically Brian.... the harnesses are for show..... I drive the car very little and have always wanted to do them.... and figured they would look good with my Caravaggio's so..... Pretty much just for show my bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok well if you're set on a bar get the BK bar... it's off-set so you can retain full seat travel. I also really liked their clip-on lap belt mounts. Makes it easy to unclip the lap belts and get them out of the way when street driving.

Thanks man!!! I will check them out!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Have fun and I wiill be looking for some pictures.

Nice mod list. I'd love to put harnesses in my car just for the pimp but since I'm not going to put a "chasis stiffener" in harnesses are a very bad idea in a vert.
Me, I'm only putting in a new clutch.....attached to a new 427. :D Once again my car will winter in Va Beach. |
